Sri Kalika temple is situated a few kilometres away from the Mapusa town. The temple is also known as the Mahamaya Kalika Saunsthan and is dedicated to Goddess Kali. The deity is considered to be the aggressive form of Goddess Durga. The structure has been decorated with beautiful intricate designs.
This temple has been divided into two outer halls. The dome of the temple has a gold kalash on the top. The temple also has a stage which is used by the dramatics society on special occasions. The idol of Goddess Kali, placed in the sanctorum, is believed to be one of the most beautiful Kadamba sculptures. Navratri, Dusshera, Shishirotsav and Vasant Puja are some of the festivals celebrated on a grand scale at the Sri Kalika temple.
