Srimukhalingeswara temple is considered to be a part of a group of three temples, devoted to the three different forms of Lord Shiva, namely Bhimeswara, Someswara and Mukhalingeswara.
The temple is situated on the shores of the Vamsadhara River. It has various sculptures, carvings and beautiful architecture that reflect the Indo-Aryan architectural style.
The arched gate of the temple is adorned with statues of lions on each side. The first gate of the temple leads to the outer prakara and a mandapam. Another carved gate leads to the inner prakara where the main shrine is located. The temple complex has various shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesha.
A finely carved temple is situated in the middle of the inner prakara. Various images of gods and goddesses are carved on the walls of the temple. Special pujas and religious ceremonies are organised on the occasion of Mahashivratri.
