St. Mary's Island, popularly known as Coconut Island, is a group of four small rock formations rising from the Arabian Sea. This island has been included as one of the four geological monuments of Karnataka and is considered as an important geo-tourism site.
It is believed that the island was discovered by Vasco da Gama in 1498, who named it as El Padron de Santa Maria. The island has vertical volcanic rock formations of different sizes. Ferries are available from the port of Malpe to reach St. Mary's Island.
