2nd May is our marriage anniversary and every year on 2nd May, my effort is to spend time together at a lovey place. This time on my 28th marriage anniversary I chose the serene city of Ooty and, after careful study, decided to stay 3 days at Sterling Ooty Eld Hill . . We arrived from Bangalore in a car and reached little late in the evening. It was a bit dark and the access road my driver took was little narrow. Though Sterling looked very fine in the picture, while arriving I was not sure if everything would be as picturesque as it appeared in photographs. When we entered the properly, it was a pleasant surprise; the environment looked lively. We were greeted warmly with welcome drink. The check-in experience was nice. We book a suite room which appeared spacious with good bed and amenities. We had a balcony with magnificent view of the Ooty city and the hotel is situated at a height. Various staff at the counter, housekeeping, restaurants etc were all appeared courteous and helpful. Breakfast and food in the restaurants also were quite good if not necessarily excellent. Above all, the property is well maintained. Overall we had some good relaxing time and would definitely recommend the place for a visit.

Elk hill is at top of a mountain and the path is very narrow and potholes every where. But, if you enter the resort you can find a massive building with car park in front . . Reception is very cool and having a waiting area lobby. Rooms and the property is very good.

I stayed in this resort last year December please find below positives and negatives Positives:. Excellent location, beautiful environment and very excellent service. Good support from front office people. Good lawn with park for children's and helpful transport desk. Excellent staff and their respect, room service wow. It's awesome. I don't have words Facilities like room. Heater, Owen, 24 hr hot water, hot water heater for heating drinking water, tea bags- coffee powder packets and sugar whenever you need for drinking coffee or tea Negatives:. Good buffet food but bit costly. Very expensive for middle class people. Buffet cost around 1200 INR (Indian rupees) and ala chart items are expensive. You don't have any hotels nearby and for everything you have to visit bus stand which is 1. 5 km from the resort. It would be good if come by car or tempo, so that one can go down and get parcel or can go in the vehicle to have dinner.
Hotel was very good. Location was awesome. Hotel was located at 2 kms distance to the prime location. I traveled by own transport. Parking facility was available. Rooms were neat and clean and spacious. Coffee maker, fridge and all basic amenities were available in the room. Services were fully sufficient. Food was delicious. Veg and non-veg all varieties were available. They served complimentary breakfast. Appearance of the hotel was excellent. Booking and front office was well behaved. Ooty place is fabulous for travel. I can recommend this hotel for others.
It was a good experience for me in this hotel. I reached there by minibus. It was easy to reach there. No activities were available there. Veg and non-veg both types of food were available there. Quality wise and variety wise, it was normal. Hotel's location was good. Appearance wise, it was also good. Booking and front office people were excellent. Hotel's staff service was very good. Room was good. I took food in another hotel. Food was good. Activities were also good. Ooty as a tourist place is an excellent place. I visited there with family group in May. This trip was a relaxation trip. There was no problem in this hotel.
Positives:. Nice hotel not too far from bus stand (approximate 1 km). Taxis and auto are easily available to and from hotel. Got a good deluxe suite (one bed room and one living room set). Comfortable beds and room heater. Some initial issues with heater but they were resolved soon by room service. Clean and spacious bathroom with basic toiletries and hot water Restaurant is good. Good food and nice buffet breakfast. Great service. There are no other restaurants nearby if you do not have a car. So this is the only option but food is good. Staff and front desk are friendly and helpful but bit slow. They organized good activities in-house DJ, games, movies, bonfire etc. During Christmas and new year time. Small park with swings. Children liked it. Good parking for 4-wheelers Negatives:. Layout of hotel is inconvenient. They have multiple floors down the hill. There are no lifts. So if you are placed on lower floors, you will need to do lot of climbing every time you need to get in the room. It would be very inconvenient if you have seniors. Our room did not have good view though there were balconies. It was blocked with trees. WiFi is good but only in reception area.
With the kid's exam over & summer heat searing at Bangalore, Ooty was an obvious choice for a holiday & a long wonderful drive through the forests of Bandipur & Mudumalai . . Tulip is a new hotel on Elk Hill and the approach is a bit tricky with a congested road winding up-hill. It is pretty close to the city center (around 2 which makes you feel like being inside the city. There is sufficient open parking space & security to the vehicle was not an issue. The facility had a living room with attached dining area, two rooms with attached Bath & a service kitchen. One of the rooms offered an aerial view of the city center, with the wide expanse of Ooty race course dominating. An big LCD TV ensured that we didn't miss the IPL matches. It has a decent restaurant & breakfast is on the house. There was an assortment of dishes to chose from to begin the day. Coffee / Tea were the only beverages available at the hotel. The staff were very courteous and like in any new facility things are falling in place gradually. The cooks were gracious enough to provide us a decent dinner in spite of our reaching there late in the night. While service was pretty prompt, quality of food deteriorated over the next couple of days of our stay. Lunch & Dinner are not too pricey although the food quality needs considerable improvement The front desk team was quite efficient & they helped us plan our local sight seeing & organized conveyance (separately charged of course. With a super helpful driver who ensured that we had a safe drive besides giving us loads of info input on places to visit & shopping. The kids would have loved spend time in the pool, unfortunately no such facility is available here & anyway expecting a warm pool (temp there was between 8 & 12 deg) is a far cry Overall it was an 'ok' holiday though all my photographs turned out to be 'misty' (blame it on the weather).
