Our trip to Kodai was the usual yearly family outing to get rejuvenated and this was just the perfect place. We drove down from Bangalore which itself was a long drive and one look at the Sterling property by the lake and the great panoramic view, all our journey stress just vanished. We were all charged up to explore the city soon after we had out sumptuous lunch. The resort is nestled amidst a great surrounding of greenery, and great views from every corner of the property. Our room was a short walk from the reception lobby through the winding garden which was laden with colourful flowers, cosy as our own home it was big enough for us to unwind after an adventurous day and catch up with a good sleep. Overall, the ambiance of the resort was very cordial and food was just awesome and lip-smacking, we could not get our the lavish breakfast spread that would be waiting each morning. During the day we used to mostly be busy sightseeing and would catch our lunch at a great eating joint suggested by the hotel staff or explored on our own reading reviews such as this. You must visit Pastry Corner and Abys cafe amongst a whole lot of different cuisines available around Kodai, cost is very meagre and the food is just great. Close-by to the Sterling resort is the man made lake and you must rent a cycle and go around the lake, especially the cycle where two can pedal together. Also not to forget boating in the lake especially the one where you need to peddle. It is amazing fun and we just loved every moment of it, and my son kept asking for more. One thing that I was worried about was our car being left outside in the open on the first night, and later I discovered that the resort had their own parking place just around the corner which was relieving and was more than satisfying. The folks (staff) at the hotel were very cordial and helpful in every way, my favourite was the security guard at the front gate, as I would creep in at dawn around the garden with my camera to shoot some birds as this is the best time to spot them and he was very helpful. Overall, our stay was worth every moment we enjoyed, and we were there for just 2 nights, maybe we may come there again for a slightly longer stay where we can really relax and breathe in the fresh Kodai air sipping a great masala chai. Now that's what I call a perfect break from our stress at workplace, sipping a great masala chai. Now that's what I call a perfect break from our stressful life in the city.
It is a good place to stay, very good ambiance, good hospitality and has a lot of amenities and activities. The property is very well maintained and has good connectivity to all the tourist spots and very close to the lake. The staff are very friendly and overall it is a very good place to stay and to have a calm and relaxed holiday.
First things first! There are no sign boards that will lead you directly to the property. However, you will need to remember that you need to drive till the lake and then a right and follow it by a left at the circle. Starting this feedback with this line is important so that you don't go through the problem I went through. Once there, you just forget the pain that you went through searching. It was raining heavily when we reached there and just as we drove in, we were warmly greeted by the manager there. Good observations: 1. The restaurant had the most perfect place to sit overlooking the lake. 2. The menu had a lot of variety and is just perfect for breakfast. Some concerns: 1. If you don't fancy walking much, ask for a room in the 1st or second rows. Since, we got the room which was a in the fourth line, it was like a mini trek to the top. 2. The lunch and dinner options are not that great. Going around Kodai is not very difficult. However, there was one very interesting person by the name of Gopalan who is employed by the hotel. Interesting because he would tell you all the details about the place and at the same time click some awesome shots for you. He took us around and got us to the best stores to get the goodies. People say that often drivers take you to places where they get commissions. However, this guy got us to places where the prices were much lower (did a comparison to check). Overall, the place is awesome and just perfect for a get away. Calm, Serene, Scenic are the 3 things that will remind me of Kodai by the lake. Will love to go back there again for a longer duration. One word of advice: The spa is very nice. However, avoid the winters for going to the spa.
It was a visit during November 2014 and we had a wonderful experience staying at Sterling Holidays Lake View. The staffs greeted us with welcome drink and made arrangements for our stay with making us wait for a minute. The amenities were just incredible and especially the gardens which we never missed clicking snaps. The best part is the Lake view from the hotel room we stayed. Talking about the rooms and service, the place was very much hygiene and the services were quick. I recommend the stay at Sterling Lake View.
Purpose of my visit was purely for relaxation and to spend leisure time with my friends. And I should say that in the selection of resort I didn't made any mistake. The first thing about the resort was that the location is really awesome. Its really near to the Kodai Lake which is the main spot of Kodaikanal. And also the view from the hotel is directly to the lake. The time we reached the resort was about early morning before the sunrise, since only little time was remaining for the sun rise we waited and it was simply awesome scenery we captured. The lake, sunrise, the mist all together that sunrise watching made us refresh and leaving all the tiredness of the journey from Kochi. Also the holiday activities provided by the resort was good, they provided many in-room games like caroms, chess and also outdoor games like archery. The ambiance which I felt there was superb, really calm, refreshing also should say about the staffs, they were so helping that they helped with our day planning.I recommend this resort for anyone who is travelling to Kodaikanal whose intention is to have a good relaxation time.
