Yercaud - Rock Perch, A Sterling Holidays Resort Reviews
I had visited this hotel with my friends. The appearance of the hotel was very good. The room was very beautiful and clean. The check in and checkout was on time. I had booked the room by online. The behaviour of the staff's was good. I would suggest this hotel to improve their staff’s language. All amenities were working condition in the room. The....Read More
The hotel was nice. Had few hiccups after check in. No power in room and had to follow up a couple of times to get it fixed. They could do better job with maintenance and cleanliness of the open areas. Lots of empty cigarette packets and bottles lying around. The rooms however were clean and neat. The good things... Amazing location. Nice room and....Read More
The hotel is situated on the side of the hill with an excellent views of the city beneath it. One of the best views there is. The staff were really friendly. They helped us arrange for a fully catered candle light dinner for 2 in the room. Food was excellent. We were able to rent from the hotel and roam around the town. Best value for money.
The hotel is at a great location. But you need to get a good room. Some rooms don't have good view from inside and not good light. The best rooms are 3XX rooms with a private balcony. You may not get one such room unless you are member with higher packages. But always when you can step out of room, then the view is great. Be ready climb lo....Read More
Rooms were not clean. Was full of dust and stinking badly. Asked for room change. Got a room in lower category which was had no privacy with poorly maintained toilet. Food is very average and other restaurants are not near.
The hotel is located near lady's seat, prime location, with clean neat rooms and excellent services. Myself and my family enjoyed our stay there. It is value for money and stay is comfortable. It is a good stay for kids.
A resort where you can lavishly enjoy your weekend without any hassle free noise. prefer a duplex room it has a great location. Food was good and about Yercaud this place is quite and one of the nearest place for Bangalore crowd to relax.
Nice resort, very relaxing atmosphere and Beautiful view!! Since this resort is built on the cliff of the mountain it's an ideal place to stay to enjoy the view. In room food service is pricey though. Hotels and grocery shops are 3. 5km away and close early.
It's a good resort with nice view in the balcony. The food served and the service provided is decent. The resort also provided a good games room, where we got to play table tennis. There were activities like bonfire conducted along with games like housie being played which kept us engaged even in the late evening before the dinner.
Very good location to relax. Need more facilities to have some more outdoor activities like swimming pool, Badminton etc. Very good food spread for both lunch and dinner. Very good tea and chilli bajji in 'bajji corner'. Book studio rooms to enjoy the valley view.

Overall the hotel experience was very good. We reached Yercaud around 11 AM and could reach this Hotel from the Yercaud centre easily. First we reached Salem, and asked someone for Yercaud route. The road from Salem to Yercaud is an hill road and the drive is very pleasant. There are about 20 HairPin Bends, most of them are wide and safe with proper fencing. Although better to drive with in 50 speed. Once you are entering Yercaud, you will see on the right side GRT Grand Trails Hotel. Pass this hotel and immediately within 3 minutes, you will enter Yercaud town. There are two ways to reach Rock Perch Sterling Resort. One is, after passing GRT Hotel, and after few meters you will have to take a right. On that road, few guys will collect money for entering that road. (some 30 or 40 Rs. ) On that road, you will see an entrance and ticket counter for Yercaud Lake which is on the Left, there is an Fish aquarium too. Second is, after passing the GRT Hotel, go straight and you will hit the Yercaud Junction and take right. Now you will see the Yercaud Lake on the Right. Drive straight, and you will have to take the small right which will go towards Rock Perch Hotel. Personally, I would prefer taking this second option since this road is completely developed. However both roads will take around 2 km to reach this hotel. Actually this hotel is situated near the Rose Garden and Ladies seat, famous attractions in Yercaud, so it is very easy to find. You might think, that this hotel is little outside the town. But it's not, it's right in the town and no problems for the access whatsoever. When you are relaxed, Be sure to visit, Perfume Paradise shop on the way. They have got nice collections. For Dinner, if you have car, you can visit Yercaud town and then go back to the room, or else you can have it at the hotel itself. When we reached the Hotel, entrance is quite big and the reception is good with spacious sofa's. We were given welcome drink and promptly attended. Staff was very courteous and the response was better than OK. Sterling Resort is a big one, and you will have plenty of rooms available. As name suggests, the resort sits on the rocks. So you will have very beautiful views on the Yercaud valley. Currently some renovation is going on, so be sure to ask for new renovated rooms. I stayed in a new room with an elegant design, and has got all the advanced fittings and even an microwave oven. A sofa and a small dining table too. The bed was soft and good, ideal for an couple with one kid, TV channels are mostly the general Indian channels. WiFi is not available and the Cell Phone did not any signal. So be sure to plan accordingly. No major complaints in the room as such. However one important point is, since the hotel is situated on rocks, you will have to walk a bit (or taking some steps down) to reach to your room from the reception. Ask for rooms which is nearer to reception, but those rooms are not renovated yet, by the time I am writing this and does not have good views. For Older People, I think better to stay near reception to avoid to steps up and down. In fact anybody for that matter, watch out for the steps. Slowly go down and climb up in the steps. Another thing is monkeys. Guests are given strict instructions not to encourage monkeys. Monkeys do come early in the morning around 8 am, so at this time it's better to keep the door closed. However, I saw plenty of monkeys right in front of my room in the morning, and they are extremely soft and minding their business on their own. In a way, it's a good sight for your kids. Restaurant and food is awesome. They charge extra of-course, for lunch they charged me 550+ tax per single person. But it's surely worth a try. They had lots of varieties and the mouth watering dishes will leave you utterly impressed. The ambiance in the restaurant is 5-star level, you would be neatly surprised. If you are going as an family with Kids, there are many activities to try. There is a big hall for the kids activities. Plenty enough for the kids to hang out. Be sure to play Halloween costumes, art and craft, badminton, cycling, TT also. For couples/newly married, other activities like trekking, yoga classes conducted as well. If you want to try an massage too with all herbals, you can. Except for kids activities, some of the activities will cost extra though. Housekeeping and room service was good, there was no much complaints. They were quick enough to attend us. On the Yercaud attractions, Ladies seat will give you an nice view of the Yercaud valley. But if you are staying in this hotel, you are already guaranteed to have an good view. Try the telescope viewing in the Ladies seat, that was good. Another near by attraction from this hotel is Rose Garden, you will have plenty of flowers to see, Also to take some pictures. There is Yercaud Lake, Deer Park, Childrens Park - All are in the central town but crowded at times. Kilyur Falls, - it will take around 3 km from Yercaud town. But when we visited there was no water. From the parking area, sure to note it down that, there are around 300 steps you have to climb down and climb up back. So be sure to decide before you step in. However, when the water flows the sight of this falls will be really good. There is one cave temple which will take around 8 km from Yercaud town, the drive was simply superb with bamboo forest on both the sides. The road was little bit narrow towards the end, but the temple was good. Overall the stay was pleasant, driving felt good. Had a good time.
We traveled to Yercaud with family recently and the stay at Rock Perch was just "Fantastic" for all of us. The Resort is beautifully Located sitting on a Cliff, overlooking the Salem City. The view from the room is just marvelous and at Night the City Lights of Selam look like Stars Spangled below you on the Ground, a view you will always remember for Life. The winds rustling through the trees and beetles screeching at night remind you of Nature's Wilderness and aloofness from your busy and hectic City Lives!!! The Property is beautifully maintained and staff members are prompt to help you. For us it was a pleasant surprise when one of our two rooms was upgraded to Premium room free of cost. The resort has many entertaining events planned in the evening throughout the week. For us, it being a saturday and weather permitting, a Bonfire was arranged. There were a number of fun games and DJ night arranged which the guests and Kids thoroughly enjoyed. The Resorts Activity room has a number of indoor games and Kids play area which can be enjoyed in your leisure. The Images on the internet may not look promising, but once you are there at the resort you will be surprised by its cleanliness and upkeep. Only scope for improvement is the Food served in their buffet. The food served was average and deserts were not up to the mark. However their ala-carte was good and tasted good. Though there are lifts in the hotel, climbing up to your rooms may be little difficult for older age people, but this again is something that cannot be criticized given the terrain and architecture of the Hotel. Overall, Excellent Stay to enjoy your vacation at leisure. Thanks Sterling resort for making the stay a memorable one for all of us
Went with family in Dec 2015. The food and the rooms are excellent. Service is superb as always in all Sterling properties. The property has a superb view of the city and it's amazing to overlook Salem at night. There are quite a few monkeys around. They don't attack people but they do steal food at every opportunity. The resort has a nice activity room, with carom, tt and some board games. They took us on a few walks to the coffee plantation near by.
Checked in on 28 Jan 2016 and check out on 29 Jan 2016. Booked a privileged suit, wow what a hotel, definitely I will not prefer staying anywhere else if I am going to Yercaud again. We planned to extend a day while check out as we are so pleased with the room and service. Became a fan of sterling resorts now. I am really happy with my experience and I would definitely recommend to all. I can rate the room, food and service as 10. All together a wonderful experience at Sterling Holidays Rock Perch.
You can't get better view in Yercaud. Amazing location. Sunset view from your room / porch is ethereal. Staff were very cordial and food was great. Definitely a good weekend getaway, especially if you live in Bangalore. They have a Trampoline for kids and my daughter really enjoyed it. Glass elevators facing the valley, should excite anyone.
