Submarine Museum, also known as Smritika, is situated near the beautiful location namely, the Ramakrishna Beach. Earlier the museum was an INS Kursura, a Russian built submarine; however in 2001 it was converted into a Submarine Museum. Being one of its own kinds in entire Asian continent, the Submarine Museum attracts many tourists.
India's Premier Defence Lab, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, National Ship Design and Research Centre and Visakhapatnam Port Trust have funded for bringing the submarine on the shores. The museum was inaugurated by Nara Chandrababu Naidu, former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, in August 2002.
