"Hiking and spirituality Combo"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted Jan 31, 2016
Surkanda Devi Temple, is decent hike. Nature lovers especially people who rejoice Himalayan beauty should visit this place. Roughly 30 min ride from Mussoorie in personal transport.

Beware of Monkey gangs, looking for water and food.

Takes around 90 min to reach the top (locals do it in 45), but the scenic beauty pays off for the trip (See attached pic).

"Beautiful temple with distinct architecture"

The 2km trek to visit the temple is a must-have experience and the temple and view of Himalayas is awesome from the temple premises. Carry your trekking stick, water, glucose and dates to be in a better position to cover this steep trek. The mind gets immense peace after reaching the temple post 2 hours of trek.

"Temple and scenic view of great Himalayas"

It is the highest point nearby Mussoorie area (9500 feets). Temple is very beautiful and trekking till temple tests your endurance. Local people take 30 mins to climb up till temple so one can rate themselves on the basis of local people.

"Want to see ice in summer ? Visit this place"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted Oct 31, 2015
I took a bus from Mussoorie to reach this place and it is situated on a mountain with the stairs being at slope of 45 degrees for 2 kms. Newly married couples will be seen mostly at this place climbing up to the temple. The most attracting thing at this place is the view and the ice that you will find at this place even in the month of May. Overall worth visiting if you can climb up 2 kms at 45 degree slope.

That was wonderful day when I reached over there. After a long journey by my bike, it was awesome time in my life to spend at a hill station. Next day I went to the famous temple situated around 500 meters & pray to god. Weather was fully cloudy on the way.

"Climbing is the pain"

  • 5.0/7
  • Posted Sep 21, 2014
The climb was painful and honestly, Not much to do, if you are not into temples. For me 15 minutes was enough after the 1 hour of climb. Mules are available for the physically challenged and on the way back, only one shop for some pakoras, tea and for kidís chips, coke etc. are available.

"Need more energy for a worthy sight of snows"

  • 7.0/7
  • Posted Aug 4, 2014
Getting to the hilltop was itself a super experience. We went in a group of five and all of us realized that we lacked energy to reach there because lack of oxygen. So please take very frequent breaks and take water along. But reaching there was worth it all. We enjoyed snow there.

"The most beautiful place in the vicinity of Mussoorie"

  • 7.0/7
  • Posted Jul 3, 2014
Surkhunda Devi temple at the top of the hill is, I think, the most beautiful place in the vicinity of Mussoorie with a 360-degree view of the hills. Beautiful, small temple and a very peaceful spot. Must visit.
