As a Traveller geek and foodie freak, I always try to spend my weekend holidays with selecting a unique city, which must have exciting things to enjoy whether food, shopping, places to visit and mainly hotels to stay with. So this December 2014 I selected Lucknow the capital of state of Uttar Pradesh. The city containing grand heritage and cultural background of India. As I was staying for 3 days in Lucknow so obviously I was in search of a cool hotel to stay with, I got a name "Hotel Vivanta by Taj". So I booked a room in the hotel. When I reached Lucknow I found the hotel was just 8 km away from the railway station and 20 km from the airport. This saved my time to reach the hotel. The hotel is situated right in the middle of the city and on the banks of the river Gomati. I arrived at the hotel and found the welcoming staff with traditional values. The hotel looked like a 4 star from outer and inner decor appearance. My choice was a luxury AC room, having amenities like LCD cable TV, very clean and neat attached bathrooms, fresh air balcony showing nice outer view. The room decor was really pleasant. Overall this hotel offers amenities like swimming pool, free parking, restaurant bar and lounge, fitness centre etc. The thing which excited me was the restaurant service , which offered a variety of traditional cuisines. I enjoyed Moghalai food like mutton kabbabs, Lucknawi Biryani, Tikkas and Deserts like Shahi Tukda. This hotel provided me the food that I was expecting from a city like Lucknow. The hotel staff were witty, committed, truly hospitable, caring through out the 3 days I stayed there. I found some good services for senior citizens like wheel chair; They provide you any help you want from them. I got valuable guidance regarding places to visit and places for shopping. The Taj hotel added a good and remarkable hospitality experience to my travelling. I recommend to stay at this hotel those who want to spend their holidays in Lucknow lavishly and royally.
We stayed for 3 nights while in Lucknow and were really happy with this hotel and the staff. They are well-trained and keen to help hotel guests, going out of their way to help us with queries about what to do and where to purchase certain types of goods. No complaints on that front at all and they made the stay feel happy and easy. The rooms are in the middle of renovations and care will be needed that they are completed to the standard of the rest of the hotel and not hodge-podge (as some of the repairs were in our bathroom), especially the decor being affected by odd fixes. The hose in our hairdryer was not connected and was fixed with red gaffer tape. Yes, it was done quickly but not in a way that would thrill the next guest! Beware if you're a tall western male, as the bathrobes are tiny and distinctly feminine and my husband looked like a drag queen... The pool is large but not deep - only about 4 foot deep- but it does the job and is really clean. There are loungers, shady spots, those hysterical little chipmunks (Indian palm squirrels who will befriend you for peanuts) and poolside food and drink service. You need to contact reception so that they send someone out to you, as not a lot of guests use the pool. The gardens of the hotel are beautiful and calming. We ate some excellent food at this hotel: the Indian restaurant was terrific and the service was attentive. Each morning at breakfast, they would make masala dosa to order - delicious. there was a wide range of food to try. As Lucknow is a primarily Muslim town, drinking alcohol is an issue. There is a bar where the friendly barman makes the most fantastic drinks (try his basil and wine cocktail, it's remarkably delicious) and is generous with the bar snack, but it's a bit like going into a hidden room to behave badly, Ironically enough, the walls are inscribed with Arabic while you drink alcohol and so, you get to muse about the weirdness of that artistic decision. You CAN drink outside on the terrace at night, however, you might get carried away by the mozzies and midges. We were happy here - it felt safe, was quiet compared the the manic nature of Indian cities, well-organised and was very clean.
This was my first visit to the huge, luxurious and escatic hotel which resides in the heart of the city of Nawabs. I was here with my family and friends, the staffs welcomed us really very well. The staff and management team is very supportive. The hotel is a perfect example of en crafted beauty. The main entrance to the reception area, everything is just superb. Even the lobby room is very beautiful. The check in and checkout facility is very good. The rooms are affordable and are very beautiful and gives you a very nice view from it. The food and drinks here is of supreme quality and taste, just finger-likening. The activity area is very big and full of different things. The parking facility is also very good.. I simply loved it and would love to come again..
