Talakona Waterfalls is situated at about 49 km from Tirupati and is regarded as the main entrance to the Tirumala Hills. The water drops from the height of approximately 270 ft, which makes it the highest waterfall in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is located in Sri Venkateswara National Park, which lies in the Chittoor District. Local inhabitants believe that the water of Talakona Waterfalls possesses some medicinal values.
Situated next to this waterfall is a small temple, which is dedicated to Lord Siddeshwara Swamy. This temple is usually crowded during the Shivarathri festival, which is a very popular event in this region. The ideal season to see the waterfalls is between November and January, when the climatic conditions are favourable.
