Tarkarli food, sight-seeing and shopping options
The hotel owner Mr. Gajanan.Kubal. is a superb person I met in this trip. He just asked me to get fresh and have the dinner. That is what we call 'Atithi DevoBhava'. He offered me Veg and Non-Veg food option. I said, How can i think of having veg diet in Konkan? I simply want to eat Fish and Sol Kadhi. In all, I paid Rs 800 for 2 night stay, 2 dinner, 1 lunch, breakfast and tea. (Rs 300 for a spacious room, where at least 3-4 people can sleep). He has around 5 rooms and its right near the beach.
You can enjoy the fresh sea food near the Malvan jetty. Malvan market is closed from 1pm-4pm. You can get the Cashewnuts (Kaaju) , Aambaa (Mango) Poli, Kokam and Aawla Syrup and much more.

Hotel Review of MTDC Holiday Resort Tarkarli
Comments: One of your readers has rated Tarkarli as Maharashtra's best kept secret.....touche!!! I first had a glimpse of Tarkarli through a MTDC poster put up in our room in Ganapatipule( another MTDC gem!!) There cannot be a better location for a seaside hotel than Tarkarli. As avid travellers my husband and I are always on the lookout for properties and vacations which linger with you long after you return from the holiday! Tarkarli is all this and more, even after discounting for okayish food, the average rooms and below than average room service. MTDC's Tarkarli resort gets a big thums up primarily for its location; the virgin beachfront which is almost like your own private beach.
Best Experience: We spent an afternoon sitting by the restaurant and chatting under the eucalyptus trees with a gentle breeze around us!!! My perfect description of a holiday!!!
Worst Experience: If you are vegetarian....this is not where you would like to eat! Bhindi masala was a plate full of fried onions & tomatoes with five bhindies sticking out!!!!

Hotel Review of MTDC Holiday Resort Tarkarli
I had trouble with paying in advance (bank transfer!) and therefore had to spend a lot of time at the MTDC office in Mumbai, but this problem should be eliminated in the near future by the possibility of paying by VISA directly on the internet. The resort is calm and a perfect place to relax. However, it would be nice if the resort would arrange daytrips to the nearby fort, Sindudhurg....

Hotel Review of MTDC Holiday Resort Tarkarli
Tarkarli has to be Maharashtra Tourism’s and ITDC’s best kept secret. How else do you explain the fact that even the average Mumbaikar has not heard of it? What do you get there? Gentle waves of crystal clear water, powdery silver-white sandy beaches which stretch for miles, lovely boat cruise on the tranquil backwaters of the Karli creek, the most awesome sea food at ridiculous prices, lovely beach-facing cottages in an idyllic setting. If you are lucky, some dolphins too. The...

Hotel Review of MTDC Holiday Resort Tarkarli
The MTDC Resort at Tarkarli is an enchanting place with beautiful cottages with its own hammock, a cloth line and a tap near the entrance (which any woman will vouch for its utmost utility considering the amount of time spent in the sea!). This tap water is so sweet that can be used for drinking also :) We had a beautiful time (my 5 year old daughter talks about it everyday even though we have taken her to many beaches)....

Hotel Review of MTDC Holiday Resort Tarkarli
Barring the limited food choice and the relatively sluggish service, this is one of the best MTDC holiday resorts ever seen. The place is not hounded by local tourists yet. The seashore is serene and water relatively clean, distance though is a deterrent....

Hotel Review of MTDC Holiday Resort Tarkarli
Tarkarli is an out of the world experience, there's 'real' salt spraying on your face, the unruly sea spread in front of you, wispy little crabs crowding the sand and few humans around you. The food is genuinely Malvani and the service- warm, just the right combo to completely destress your soul!...

Hotel Review of MTDC Holiday Resort Tarkarli
"Talcum powder" beach...what more can I say....It's not for nothing that MTDC calls it the Greece of the east. Cottages are a delight..designer cottages on a budget. resort is bang on the beach. Fabulous in rains. Food is simple but tasty. Go while it is new..no idea what will happen 2 years down the line...
