Good property at great location

3.6/7
Posted 4 Jan, 2016

We stayed at this property from January 1st to January 3rd 2016 to Celebrate New Year away for the busy life of Bangalore. Tea Nest is located at a very beautiful location and property is built and maintained very nicely in the middle of tea gardens. We booked the Green Room which was 1st room to the right (Just for the reference because few rooms were not marked so we were in doubt if we got the correct room). Breakfast was included but very limited options. Food was good though. Basic room service features like an intercom is not available. If you need something, then you have to go out and search for help. Most of the times no one was at the reception so had to go searching. Also, minor amenities like handwash/soap, drinking water bottle was not available. Bonfire was available, outside on the porch. Fireplace inside the room shown in the pictures, are not working and also they didn't have enough wood to light up the bonfire the second day. Dolphin's nose/lamb rock is the nearest viewpoint so we got a chance to visit early morning to see the sunrise, which was very beautiful to watch. No traffic and no visitors early on a Sunday morning, so you can enjoy the peaceful sunrise and beautiful scenery. (For free because the ticket booth is closed till 9am) Overall, the property is good and location is great. We enjoyed the view and the peaceful neighbourhood, but was extremely disappointed by the service we got. Hotel Staff seemed to be more concerned about the Foreign Guests staying in the hotel.

I visited to Kannur for holiday trip with family in the month of May. Place of the hotel was very good. Location of the hotel was excellent to the right of the middle of the tea garden and its very clean. The appearance of the hotel was good. Front office of the hotel was good and polite but its small. Overall service of the hotel was very good and clean and whether the food they provide its fresh. Room of the hotel was good and clean. Food and drinks of the hotel were average and their dining room was very small. Activities of the hotel were average and they have little space for activities is concerned

A beautiful and serene holiday spent

6.0/7
Posted 30 Sep, 2014

We visited Coonoor for a cool and relaxed break, away from the hectic. A working family and Mumbai schedule and, while searching for something serene, away from town but not a completely isolated staying option, we came across Tea Nest and booked it. And we have not regretted our decision. As per availability of rooms, we had a 1-night stay at Tea Nest Annexe and 2-nights at Tea Nest In one sentence, the Tea Nest Annexe is. You can not describe it fully, you have to stay there to experience the calm, birds, clouds, mountains, cool air, tea gardens on all sides and complete serenity all around. We won't forget the refreshing Rosemary Tea they served us as welcome drink on our arrival. The view from front lawns is supremely beautiful, no words to describe it. You can just sit on the lawn chairs and be at peace. We also had a short walk on the mountain road and went to the Singara Estate tea factory nearby to buy some freshly packed CTC tea. The service at Tea Nest Annexe is impeccable and when combined with outstandingly delicious food (we had breakfast + dinner), the overall experience was very good. The staff is very courteous, helpful, the bathrooms are very clean and well stocked with all necessities, special mention needed for the various toiletries with Tea fragrances, which is unique The stay at Tea Nest was also good, but not at the same level of Annexe. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked, staff very helpful, food is good but not outstanding like Annexe. The plus point of Tea Nest is the big reception hall with some indoor games, books and large comfortable sofas to relax & chat. Our son enjoyed Reading on one of the sofas. The breakfast served on open terrace was delicious and the view was good. The staff gave us a call on the morning of arrival and gave us estimated travel time from Bangalore and inquired about our food timings. The roads to Tea Nest and Annexe are good, with signboards on the way from Coonoor town, so that you are not lost. The billing and other formalities were swift and efficiently handled So if you want to get peace of mind in the lap of beautiful nature, accompanied by delicious food and tea, then you must stay at Tea Nest Annexe. In case we plan to visit again, we will prefer to stay at the Annexe.

Good hospitality

6.5/7
Posted 2 Jun, 2017

I visited Coonoor it was a Holiday trip. I went there along with my family in the month of April 2017. I booked it directly. The location of the hotel was hassle free to reach. The hotel was centrally located in the tea estate. The appearance of the hotel was good in look and there was a spacious parking area. The front office was normal in look. The staff was friendly and they would respect the guests. The service of the hotel was cooperative they served the towel glass and the basic things inside the room. The food was delicious and we have enjoyed the foods. We took the Parata and the Mutton curry as well the vegetarian curry. There was a dining table and we could sit and enjoy the food with the tea estate beauty. There were a few activities like trekking and the cycling. The room was spacious and it was well maintained. I have booked the best room in this hotel. Overall the hospitality was good.

It was a nice stay; we enjoyed a lot in tea nest. Tea Nest is located in Connor, the Place surround Tea nest is awesome, we stayed three nights and Four days even a single day we didn't get any bore such a wonderful place to enjoy with your family and friends. Fantastic food and services even I don't get this type of services in Chennai hotel also, every time they take menu from my room and they go to market and buy all the items as fresh, I order fish and chicken they went to market personally for me alone and they cooked it. Room service is also very good; they don't say no we won't get this outside. Whatever you ask they will buy for you. Excellent service provided by the staff. This is my honeymoon trip even my wife like this place so much, all the room are excellent. If I come to Ooty again surly I will come to Tea Nest again.

It was an excellent stay!

6.9/7
Posted 20 Nov, 2015

Stayed at Tea Nest for 3 nights during Durga Puja Hoildays - checked in on 20th October night and checked out on the 23rd morning. We reached Coimbatore Airport from Kolkata on 20th at about 6 pm and boarded the hotel car at about 6-30 pm. As per prior arrangement made during internet booking. Hotel people had intimated me the driver's name and Mobile number through SMS beforehand and the driver was ready at the Airport gate. There was a severe traffic jam near a bridge on the way to Coonoor and that took nearly an hour's extra time of journey. On the way, we received a call from the hotel asking for our desired menu for the dinner. We reached there at about 9-30 pm and oh! They greeted us with hot lemon tea immediately. We got freshened up and took a grand hot dinner as per our wishlist conveyed earlier The night had a heavy downpour but the rain was a blessing in disguise. In the morning, there were clouds and fogs everywhere. The hotel is surrounded by lush green tea gardens rather, it is situated within a tea garden. The atmosphere is serene and holy and our eyes were freshened up by the greenery everywhere. Clouds and fogs prevailed over the atmosphere during our entire stay and we discovered this as a great luck for us. Tourists stay at Ooty and take a day trip for Coonoor but that is a great mistake. One should stay at Coonoor for enjoying it's glamorous beauty On the 22nd, we took a hotel car for local sightseeing. There are lots of tea gardens at Coonoor and you can enjoy their sight during your travel for local sightseeing. The spots at Coonoor (except Sim's Park) is not worth seeing and suffer from severe traffic congestion. But Sim's Park is very big and excellent and you will enjoy it One thing I do remember about Hotel Nest people as a sweet memory. The dining hall closes at 2-30 pm, but we were late in returning to hotel after local sightseeing on the 22nd (due to jam in traffic). The dining hall was closed but we were astonished to see that the Manager himself was waiting for us. He, along with one of his associates, served us hot lunch in a very homely manner. Mere conveying our thanks to them was not enough, we realized So far as we could gather, there are only six rooms at the hotel. It has a big, modern kitchen and of course, there are smiling members of staff who are always eager to help the visitors. There is a neatly maintained sitting area and you will have selected books over there. For children, there is ample scope of games. I have noticed two bicycles (with helmets) meant for the children and two umbrellas even Breakfasts are complimentary and are sufficient and they boast of varieties. They try to accommodate you as much as they can We have a very sweet memory of our beautiful stay at Tea Nest. We wished that we should cut short our stay at Ooty, our next destination and which is very congested now-a-days. We stayed at room Silver Tips and possibly that is the best one Important : Always book your vehicle from the hotel. That is not at all expensive. And another last word - pray for rains during your stay, so that you can live with the clouds and fogs amongst lustful greeneries of far reaching tea gardens They have another property called Tea Nest Annexe and it is located some 1. 2 Kms away from Tea Nest. It has only two rooms and has all the facilities like restaurant. But it is extremely lonely and is probably fit for those who come in big groups.

Excellent resort in a beautiful setting

6.5/7
Posted 8 Sep, 2015

Was my first visit to Coonoor. The hotel itself is right in the middle of a tea garden- part of the Singara estate, complete with a tea factory at the end of the road. The hotel is a beautiful bungalow and has a old World homely feel to it. There are books, board games, bicycles The rooms are large, spacious with fireplaces and heater equipped bathrooms. Nothing better than snuggle in a warm blanket in a warm bed on a cold night. We were a group of nine and we took three rooms and the independent cottage. The cottage became our impromptu hangout for all the days. The small seating area and kitchen space was perfect for all our eating and drinking. Speaking of food and drink- they run a very good kitchen. The food was excellent and the quantities were generous. Especially, I like their breakfast Things to do- A lot. Within the hotel, you can sit, read and sip tea in complete calm. Take a walk or go bicycling. The roads around are beautiful, but some stretches can be steep. But that's a challenge worth taking. The road meanders through the tea gardens. You can see tea being plucked, clouds lazily drifting around the hills and the sun playing hide and seek with everything. On our second day we went for a walk and saw a herd of bison in the tea gardens and we took a lot of photos in the gardens ourselves Places to visit- There are about two or three spots-Dolphin nose, tiger hill, Lamb's rock. We couldn't make it to Sim's park but they say it is good and Coonoor town and is a pretty little place. Things to do- visit the places mentioned above, buy tea, chocolates, spices, walk a lot and yeah, the resort has a tea tasting course, where they explain how to distinguish the different teas. It's worth it. Take the Nilgiri toy Train if possible What not to do- If you are driving yourself, make sure you have a good GPS system and good foglamps. Also, at Lamb's rock, avoid the guides who will offer to show you a shortcut. There is just one path and the strategic spots are those where the maximum people converge. A home away from home

4.9/7
Posted 20 Jun, 2014

The initial long wait after a long drive to this Coonoor resort was somewhat mitigated by the nice welcome tea. The rooms were smaller and less cozy than I imagined (from the somewhat generous reviews that I had read online). Basic items (such as a couple of pairs of slippers) were missing considering that the resort is priced somewhat high. So I must say we (a family of two plus two) were a bit disappointed That changed for better when we went out of our room and took a stroll. The place has a fantastic view and you could spend a few days simply soaking in the nature. The resort is actually a part of a tea estate and is very well maintained. The biggest advantage is its location-not too far away from Ooty, but far enough to avoid the crowd. There are some tourist spots nearby but not really necessary. You can simply while away your time here as this place is as beautiful as the so called tourist spots. The place could have done with an activity or two-a camp fire maybe. Food was above average .

On my holiday trip I visited Coonoor. I went there along with my family in the month of May 2017. There is parking facility. It is free service. The location of the hotel was well placed. It is near to scenic places. Appearance of the hotel was average. It is on hilly area. The Front office staff was responding well. The service of the hotel was prompt. The room was well maintained. We booked doubled room. It was spacious and clean. They can keep floor clean. We had food in the hotel. We took complimentary breakfast. It was good and tasty. We took restaurant service. We paid for the food apart from complimentary food. Were other activities. They could keep swimming pool for kids. There are no arrangements for elders.

6.5/7
Posted 13 Oct, 2015

Overall, a very nice, very restful holiday.

Homely stay near a tea garden

5.3/7
Posted 13 Mar, 2014

My wife, daughter and my golden retriever accompanied me here for the year-end holidays. The property is a bit away from Coonoor town, which is not an issue if you have a vehicle with you always. The property is within a tea garden and is perfect for walks. Nice cloud formations on the slopes of the tea garden make it a more serene place. The rooms are basic, but large. The decor is again basic but clean with nothing worth mentioning. Being the year-end holiday, it was very expensive. Food is expensive at Tea Nest. Not much variety, but whatever we chose from the menu was good. The kitchen helped us cook food for my 2-year-old daughter and my dog. There is no activity as such within the resort. Some of the rooms are within compound of another private property, where the owners would object if we walk around. This becomes confusing to understand what belongs to Tea Nest and what. Some cement repair work was also going on there for the first day and few hours on the second day as well. I would recommend the place to anyone who seeks peaceful basic accommodation, with the advantage of staying within a tea garden. Otherwise there are other better in the vicinity.

Once of the best places to stay in Coonoor

6.1/7
Posted 14 Mar, 2016

We stayed at Tea Nest in the month of February 2016, I must stay this place is really worth staying. As the name suggests, it is situated between lovely tea estates all around the property. It brings you close to nature and help you relax as you are away from all the crowd and traffic The rooms are named after different Tea's, we had booked Jasmine which is a separate room and is the biggest of all of them. The room is a old bungalow maintained well We were served with Basil tea as a welcome drink which was refreshing start. The complimentary breakfast was tasty and would give an 8 out of 10 The food on the menu was above averaged only veg) and the veg options are limited I can keep writing on and on but I would like to stop and sum it up my saying it's a great place to stay. One should not miss this place mainly for the view and the hospitality. I will mention few Pro's and Con's. Pro's: Location, Hospitality, Breakfast, Wi Fi, Please try the Tea it's awesome Con's: No intercom connection in the Jasmine room ordering can be a pain. The room smells of the dampness that could be a spoiler. The approach roads are horrible since the property is around 2 kms from the main road.

Stay in the nature

7.0/7
Posted 6 Jul, 2016

We had an opportunity to stay @Tea Nest in the mid of June 2016. Most beautiful place to stay around in full green tea valley. Eye witness greenery 360 degrees all around you. Morning 6:30AM just walk into the tea estate you witness sun rise and sparkling green tea leaves welcoming you. All you listen is birds humming. Amazing place you experience, weather changes in short period as you see bright sun, next moment clouds passing on and next moment you might see fog. I enjoyed photography and proud myself to capture some of the great moments. Just relax your self out side sipping cup of tea/coffee, talking to your family. My 2 years old son liked the place so much and ran all over the tea gardens and played with toys in the home stay. We played tennis, rode by-cycle. I strongly recommend Tea Nest to the people who would like to stay in the nature, forget about the world and be your self Tea Nest staff was very supportive, considering the children they took care of us very well. Food was great and all the time pleasant. Thank you Tea Nest team, you should be proud of what your are doing and please continue the same !!!
