"This was an extrordinary experience..."

This was an extrordinary experience for me. the hosts are Brahmin Hindus. The home itself is about 300 years old and belonged to a very famous Malayalam cartoonist until it was bought by the currnt owners. I felt as though I was part of the family... More

About Thani Illam

Thani Illam is located at Thottuva in Cochin. The property is 12 km from Cochin International Airport and 26 km from Aluva Railway Station. Thani Illam, en eco-friendly heritage home, organizes daily sightseeing trips. The guests can also take part in trekking, shrine visits and bird watching.

Rooms & Amenities

Thani Illam, a century old traditional Kerala house, was the home of famous Malayalam writer Malayatoor Ramakrishnan. The first room is located on the South side and is named as Thekkini. The second room was rebuilt from a five centuries old ancestral house and is fully wooden panelled. The rooms are of single or double occupancy. Thani Illam serves traditional vegetarian delicacies for the guests. Ayurvedic treatments, yoga classes and astrology lessons are arranged on request.
