Thazhathangady Juma Masjid, also known as the Taj Juma Masjid, is located on the banks of the Meenachil River. The foundation of the shrine was laid by the members of the Jama-Athe in 1959 and was completed in 1964.

Renowned for its wood carvings and beautiful architecture, the mosque was the abode of Muslims who arrived in Kottayam from different parts of Kerala. Since 1947, the residents of the mosque follow the Hanafi tradition, under the guidance of the Kottayam Settu Masjid.

The mosque was dedicated to the residents of the area by Haji Abdul Karim Sahib, the first President of the Jama-Athe. It was maintained by Alhaj P. P. Ahmed Alim Sahib, who was also the Imam from 1964 to 1993.

Thazhathangady Juma Masjid is located about 5 km from the famous landmark Baker's Junction of Kottayam and it is situated on the bank of Meenachil River. This is also known as the Crown Juma Masjid. It was built by the Muslims settler of Kerala about in1000 AD.

Its Architecture Style is unique and carving on wooden ceilings and pillars are just spectacular. Having A Hauz for ablution and this is a well maintained Mosque as worship is observed regularly. Southern portion is renovated and two Minarets are also added in 2012.

Visitors are allowed except the prayers timing. Visitors may enjoy the taste of Kerala in various famous restaurants like Kane, Basant etc at Baker's Junction. Nearby attractions are Mozart Art Gallery and Thirunakkara Mahadeva temple which can be accessed easily from this heritage of Kerala.
