Top Reviews of The Chanakya BNR Hotel
I was fascinated at the very entrance of the hotel with two large gates, one for entrance and the other one for exit. As you step into the hotel you get to see the vast expansion of the hotel with greenery on either side. Moved into the portico and then stepped into the reception area. Though the entrance into the reception is from an average door which could have been made a little grand but as soon as you enter into the reception room you are welcomed by a very decent and helpful staff who surely tries to help you at every level. I got a room in the heritage wing which was quite big with a powerful Ac, was nicely cleaned and managed with a big wash room. It also had a mini freeze with coke & chocolate, a tea maker. All nicely placed. The hotel had samrat restaurant which had a very long menu with delicious food items. Swimming pool was nicely managed. Around 400 metres before the BNR Chanakya Hotel there was eat restaurant which was awesome. It provided class service with very delicious food at a very genuine price and quick service. Native people were also good.

Hotel has facilities like laundry facilities, Direct phone-calling from room, Cable television. Also there is swimming pool in this hotel. Foods served by them was of great taste. Service was awesome. 24 hrs Room service was also available. Service management was very good. Also the service staff were very helpful. Overall I can say that this hotel is very good for stay.
Firstly, I would like to say that Ranchi is a quite under rated tourist destination. It has lots of great places to visit and the weather over here is just awesome. The hotel is located at a good place. It is located in front of railway station which is very comfortable whenever I travel to Ranchi in train. The hotel is spacious. Good to stay. Overall experience with the hotel was very good. Service very prompt. Look of hotel is lovely, cool & calm. Very comfortable stay with class of food. It was a nice experience of stay and I will always prefer staying there. A true value of money! If you want to spend a calm and peaceful holiday with your family, this may be a good option.
The Chanakya BNR hotel is situated near the Ranchi railway station. This hotel was constructed during the British Raj to accommodate specially the British Officials. So it gives a combined feeling of historical as well as modern amenities. It is one of the best places to stay while in Ranchi with lot of space, nice comfortable rooms, especially the old wings in ground floor adjacent to the lawns & friendly staff offering decent service. Food & drinks are expensive but It is really value for money option to stay at Chanakya BNR.
I was actually booked into a different hotel, but spotted the BNR as I climbed the railway over bridge - and the irresistible pull that such heritage and classy hotels have took over. Placed a call and confirmed that rooms were available and found myself walking into the reception passing the well maintained lawns. So far it must be obvious that the hotel is just outside the railway station. However do not worry about any noise or disturbance because of this. The BNR Hotel, as it was originally known was a railway hotel now taken over by a private group. I must say that they are doing a very good job. Coming back to the hotel, I'm told that there are better ones in Ranchi, but I vouch for the fact that there is none finer and more elegant. The old colonial style has been retained - ground floor rooms (huge I am told) with red tiled roofs and at the same time with all modern facilities, the premises are huge and well maintained with a very green and natural look all over. The only concession to be allowed is the new block constructed, but the same is unobtrusive. I was in a fifth floor room in the new block. The room is cozy and big enough for a family. The bathroom is modern and clean and the hotel provides some basic toiletries. My bay window overlooked the hotel lawn with trees and the railway station. There was absolutely no outside noise. Service is good and the staff polite and efficient. Coming to food, I liked what I had ordered a lacarte, but the breakfast spread (complimentary) needs improvement in terms of variety - no complaints otherwise. I wholeheartedly recommend the BNR to all who are looking for a classy experience in Ranchi.
