Sikkim was breathtaking snowy beauty I had ever come across. The little state in the Himalayas had so much to offer ... From the beautiful and numerous falls that go on to become Tista and flow on to the snowy peaks of Lachung and Lachen ... The hot momos and pork chops ... The monasteries and the brightly coloured Feng Shui. The first day of our trip was an evening well spent in Gangtok in a small hotel on the MG road but the cleanliness and discipline of the people of Sikkim is starking and I would simply rank it on top on Swaccha Bharat cities. This Mall Road as is it called in the reflection of the culture of Sikkim ... Loved the view from the little balcony and enjoyed sitting on the benches amid shops, shoppers, food and flowers. Gorge on the momos here. The travel to north Sikkim towards Lachung and Lachen is exciting and full of risks but you must get a good driver like we had. The roads are rough and landslides are inevitable but as you cross mountains and rivers over these small unstable wooden bridges, don't forget to stop by and shoot pics of these amazing colourful prayer flags tied on to the bridges for your safety. Eat at small intervals and keep yourself warm. The stay in the villages is difficult but people are very hospitable. We survived in -3 C. Due to rough weather we could not visit Gurudongmar Lake and returned to Lachen. But our friends who visited few days later were speechless and mesmerized with its beauty and serenity. Tsongmo Lake was my favourite as I played with snow like a baby and enjoyed it so much. My in-laws too became kids when they entered the snow. The Rhododendron Sanctuary, Seven Sisters Fall, Changu Valley, Baba harbhajan Mandir enroute Nathula Pass are a must visit to North Sikkim. Delisso Abseiling Holidays Resort was the best choice we made when we got back from Lachen. Our suite was a premier one and the view from the bed was the shimmery Kanchenjunga peak. No words to explain the ecstasy. The other room that our in-laws got was equally good, spacious and very well maintained. The hotel is a great place to relax by itself and Mall road is just a five minute walk through the beautifully planned Gangtok city. The staff is a excellent and the head chef is a Mongolian so you are bound to love the Chinese delicacies on the menu. The menu is quite elaborate so you can have choices. Parking your own vehicle may be a problem but the hotel staff will guide your driver and you don't have any worries during your stay.
Location of Hotel Delisso Abode is excellent. It is only 10 mins walking distance from MG. Marg, Bazra stand is also very near. Stand for Siliguri-Gangtok is not very far from the hotel too. Hotel landscape is also nice. Judiciously they did not make any swimming pool probably because Gangtok is a hill station and climate is cold during most of the peak seasons for tourists. Rooms are very spacious and luxurious and equipped with all sorts of amenities people will prefer. The LED TV has been placed on a turntable device so that it can be viewed from the drawing room or the bedroom as per the convenience of guest. Their room service was very prompt. Hospitality of all the staff are remarkable. It has very nice scenic beauty from its hotel room. I still remember the golden peaks of Kanchenjunga viewed from the window of my room in the early morning. Food were so nice and enjoyable. The hotel has buffet facility for breakfast and dinner. They offer delicious food dishes of various categories during the buffet. Though tariff of the rooms are a bit high, but it will definitely be compensated by the degree of pleasure and satisfaction which guests will be having by staying here. I shall advise all the travellers to stay at this hotel because it will be one of the best memorable hotel stays in their life. My daughter was too sad to leave the hotel and wished if we could stay permanently there.
We came to Gangtok for our honeymoon. As soon as we arrived to the hotel Delisso Abode, the hotel service people came to our car and picked up our luggage and took us to their reception. We liked the trailer of the hospitality shown by them. The MG Marg was within walk able distance. The washroom was not very big but we found enough space to fulfill the purpose. We had free breakfast for all the days we stayed in this hotel and the food was very good and we found lot of varieties in the food. The bed was very comfortable even though it dint have electric bed warmer. We had a LCD TV in the room with normal clarity in the channels but it dint matter much for us because most of the time we were roaming out and covering all the places. All the services like reception, staff people and housekeeping were very courteous to us and we really appreciate them for their respect towards customers. The advice which I can give for all of them who book this hotel is, you need to pay extra for the room heater and if you have any special requests like decorating the room or having a plan for candle light dinner then u have to pay extra because these charges are not covered in the room rent. On the whole, you will definitely not regret for choosing this hotel instead you will have a good neat and tidy impression on the hotel. If you are looking for some interior designed hotels then you can choose some other high range hotels which I heard from our car driver, but I found others a little bit far from the MG marg.
Been there and stayed for my grand trip in north east. The room service is so awesome. The only issue with the hotel was that it was a small property. I know about sterling resorts in other places - but the one in Gangtok is relatively smaller. The advantage of the hotel is that it is very near to the MG road. All the important place can be reached in a short walk. The cons of the room is that it is very near to the bus stand at the back. Thus expect noise even in the night. The staff were courteous throughout our stay of 2 days. There are lot of attractions and temple near by. Best place to stay if you want to visit Changu Lake.
It was a 2 day stay with Delisso with my wife on our honeymoon trip. We checked in pretty late in the evening on a Saturday and were treated with good hot tea and a pleasant smile. The room provided was clean, well maintained, and spacious and the extremely helpful staff made it a wonderful stay. The bed was comfortable and the room heater provided was pretty good to keep us warm through the night. The room had a good LCD TV with access to Sports, Hindi and English movie channels. Indecently my wife had an injury during our travel which required stitches on her knee and that is when we experienced the courteous nature of the staff. Right from the manager to the room assistants everyone were helpful to make sure my wife was pretty well taken care of. Be it arranging cabs or giving us insights on what places to look around apart from the regular itinerary they were engaging. The only challenge we had was the location of the hotel. It was on a steep road making it a little difficult for walking. And we had to hire a cab to take us to the pickup point where we had to take a bigger car every time. I think it is to do with the state regulation though and not the hotel itself. The food served for breakfast and dinner were delicious. I was amused to see some south Indian food being server in breakfast. The food is pretty expensive but I wouldn't mind paying for the quality and quantity of food that they server. Overall, I would love to stay here if I travel to Gangtok again.
