Grange, constructed in 1820, is one of the oldest architectural wonders located in Yercaud. This castle was built by collector M. D. Cockburn. It was also the first commercial plantation area for coffee, oranges and apples in this hill station.
According to a belief, it is said that this place in the late 1800's was used as a summer resort by Robert Clive of English East India Company. In addition, the place has a huge cellar that can hold huge quantities of provisions.
During the Sepoy Mutiny, this building was very active and it was at the same time that gun placements and canon-bearers were added to the existing building. At present, a beautiful resort is located besides the building.
