What travellers are saying about this hotel
Value For Money:
It was a honey moon trip for us. And our experience proved, it was a wise decision to go ahead with Tamara. It is a 170 acre property well secured, located at highest level surrounded with magical mystic full green mountains, planted with coffee, cardamom & pepper, luxury twin cottages built on the slope with stilts (Concrete & Wood) to have proper elevation( I guess 56 in numbers), a coffee primitive production house, a lounge bar, couple of restaurants and with few indoor & outdoor games. The plantation is not much actively carried out now but sufficient enough to walk through, learn the basics of it. One can have an all round experience of coffee production at Tamara. The plantation walk through is very relaxing and informative. It was guided property walk through. The cottages are majorly build with wood, luxurious, spacious (stayed at luxury cottage) equipped with almost all necessary things. It is a two level floors, bedroom + bathroom & Living + balcony. The bathroom is functional not luxury. Massage shower (all body a Jacuzzi / Bath tub is missing. Slightly irritating is hand shower missing in toilet. ( International standard is fine still with Indian context, it should be an option in my opinion). The balcony is large, great view, with good seating & leisure bed. An all round French door view from the bed to the balcony. One irritating point is difficult to keep the balcony door opened, all variety of insects in less than a minute . (Not a complaint a word of caution while using the balcony at night). The restaurant services are good, food is not all that great but it is good. Good bar & bar tender. You can make your own cocktail in general services are good. Service is very good. Staff are very cordial and caring (genuinely) Lot of customized services are available of course at a cost, but you feel worth if it is an occasion else slightly pricey. Indoor / outdoor sports are very basic. Some outdoor sports and pool are coming up. Spa services are not unfledged. Climate is just chill, but nights are colder (may 3 to 4 deg Nov). There are activities to do, a trekking, a visit to talakaveri, which we missed it. With adequate planning one can complete it. Other tips : the enroute to the resort, there are some hidden waterfalls, windows open a sense to noise, you will not miss the spots. Better to drive your own (in case you enjoy driving) in that case please fill the gas & let the tyres are healthy. Beware you can go at an average of 30 to 35 kms per hour.
For anyone who wishes to take a break and relax, yet adventerise, yet be romantic...this is the place to be! Its an all in one package and worth every penny you pay! Luxurious, beautiful, there are a thousand words for this place and yet I\'m short of them! Except for the food (we are all vegetarians) which was average, everything else was Excellent. And believe me, I\'m one of those who are called \"fault finders\". Breakfast is always an exception! If a place cannot serve good breakfast then I\'d say the place is not good at all. But ofcourse they made pancakes for me, on request, even though it was not on the menu. And ofcourse it was delicious!! We chose rooms 111 and 112 (booked it in advance) which have the most beautiful view in the WHOLE resort. And I\'m so glad I read the reviews about the same before booking for it. My special \"comments/request\" were taken care of, unlike other reviews I had read of earlier and that is what makes this place even better. And that is also the reason that Tamara is now \"the best\" resort in Coorg! I\'m glad we chose to stay here, coz it completely changed our experience...and would love to visit again! I would highly recommend everyone of this place, its people, its hospitality. I\'m an Artist and did a painting from my Cottage balcony, which I later gifted to Tamara. It was more of a \"thankyou\" gesture. Activities: We managed to do almost everything in that one night two day stay. Visit coffee plantations, make coffee, trek, learn a thing or two about birds, visit the play area. The Spa and swimming pool are under construction. But if one asks for Spa services, they do offer the same. Advice: Be prepared for a long journey. We were traveling from Bangalore. It took us 7-8hrs. But yes, once you reach there, its totally worth it!
Togetherness is the secret sauce that stitches many souls together. As corporate slaves, we pay a heavy price by sacrificing the our time. October is the birthday month of my husband and we decided to indulge and looked towards Tamara at Coorg. The holiday has two distinct parts - 1) Road trip to Coorg from Bangalore. 2) The stay at Tamara. I must start with the booking process. I sent a mail to them for enquiry and the prompt response and offers extended, made me quickly make the booking because it did then become more affordable for the 2 days of stay at Tamara. We headed out on the morning of Friday October 16, 2015 and the drive was extremely scenic and interesting from Bangalore to Coorg. I must say the barriers between Bangalore and Mysore were a downer as you just could not go at the speed that you are interested to travel. But then we had happiness closer to Coorg. At the forked road which takes one towards Bylakuppe and the other towards Tamara, we stopped at a tea stall called Bhagwan Amma Tea stall. The owner Mr. Prakash was the happiest person I had seen in a long time. He offered a free biscuit with the chai and many smiles during our short stop. He gladly offered to be snapped with my husband before we drove off, rejuvenated and excited at the sign of the things to come. Closer to Tamara - We had a tough time keeping up with the directions when we were about 25km away from Tamara. There was no signboard near a right turn and it took us a couple of calls and wrong turns to finally hit the right notes oops road! Tamara - The welcome and check-in details at the reception were very warm and Indian. The lady took a few minutes and requested us to oblige for some welcome photographs on the property. We were then whisked away in a golf cart to our room and we knew we were in for something serene. The place was silent and very calming both visually and otherwise. The place just made us go in awe in terms of deep respect for nature. The quiet waterfalls were a reminder that all that flows, need not be loud and garrulous to attract attention. The rooms, built on stilts, offered breathtaking views of the place. The layout of the room offered a lot of seating space and access to the balcony too. We were already in a different land. Mobile connectivity was not the best for us and we were so happy to note that. We rushed straight to the restaurant as it was nearly 3 by the time we reached. The spread was lavish and yet the steward asked us for some preferences and offered to make local dishes for dinner. The Chef Mr. Saha was kind enough to suggest vegetarian options too. Post lunch we rushed for the plantation and rudraksh trail. The walk was very enlightening not to mention interesting as I met with leeches for the first time and loved the rugged experience. The trail anchor was kind to help us understand the different types of coffee and showed us around the plantations too. The walk ended appropriately at the Verandah where we got to make our own little brew and take some of it home too. The quaint souvenir store had interesting artefacts including the crocs house slippers which had spoilt us in the room. We opted to come on the day of the checkout for the spoils. The evening lazed out in front of us and for the first time in many years, we had time for ourselves. We walked around the campus and took up a game of carrom in the leisure room too. It was time for dinner and the feast ahead of us ensured we were spoilt before we hit the sack to get up early for the yoga session. The yoga session at 7:00 am was very calming. The guruji patiently walked us through the asanas and offered to help us with some specific asanas for my thyroid and other challenges. The day then got even more calming as we opted for the spa services during the day and I know it was awesome because I actually snored through the reflexology service! Lunch followed nothing and then the evening reminded us that the next day we had to head back to our daily lives. There was something that made us want to extend for another day but the office was beckoning (kids were on vacation at their maternal grandparents house. The summary of the stay at Tamara is about nothingness. It allows you to be yourself, do what you want - trek, yoga, walk, eat, play board games, paint, etc. A rarity that we don't realize in our daily lives. It allows us to be all in this in the lap of sheer luxury and pamper. The food, the care, the assistance and every corner of the property is designed to make you feel good about life and introspect. It is the nothingness that draws me to Tamara and it is on my list of half yearly pilgrimages, going forward.
The best thing about Tamara Coorg is the politeness of the staff. They are very friendly, helpful and courteous. Besides this, the location of the resort is simply amazing. It was a bit difficult to reach their (not too tiring though), but once you reach the spot, you know its worth the travel. Food quality is simply delicious. The spread of the buffet is just awesome. Location is too good. You will fall in love with its beauty. Don't forget to go on the small guided trek/ nature's trail and the plantation tour arranged by the resort. Its a must do when you are at Tamara. One must stay for a two nights to enjoy to the fullest (bit expensive but definitely worth the pay).
No words for experience at Tamara. I Found the hidden treasures of peace and love under the watchful gaze of the bird at The Tamara Coorg. It had amazing Timber Resorts to indulge in a cocktail of Luxury, Nature and Privacy, only at The Tamara Coorg. Just a lovely place I can never forget. Listen to the wind whistle in your ears, trees whisper secrets to you and birds sing duet as you take a tour of the plantation at The Tamara Coorg.
