The resort is in an excellent location across the river. Very well maintained lawn. The cottages were OK. But if you are going to be hardly in the room, it really wouldn't bother you that much. Decent enough to catch a quick nap in the afternoon and spend your nights there.

Best Experience: There is a sit out in front of every cottage. We really enjoyed sitting there at night and talking with people who were also sitting out at night basically enjoying the stars. You can also lie down on the lawn and if you move towards the back of the resort, you can sit on the grass there and really enjoy the view of the river. Very beautiful to sit there at night and just relax.

Worst Experience: Nothing as such. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant onsite. It's quite pricey and not very tasty. Plus the service is extremely slow. Apart from that, MOSQUITOES!! Man they can really take the wind out of you. So many of them. But that basically doesn't have anything to do with the resort. It has more to do with Hampi. Carry repellents with you when you visit this place.

In Hampi, we stayed across the river Tungabadhra at Shanthi guest house, which has the best view of river and paddy field. The cottage has thatched roof and clean bed and bathroom with no luxury whatsoever. Shanthi guest house is the second most expensive @ Rs.1200 per night for a cottage facing the river but it is worth it !

Best Experience: the best part of the cottage was a swing on the verandah overlooking the paddy field and river. It is extremely nice to relax in this place.

Shanthi guest house is one of the best places to stay in Hampi. It is situated on other side of river (called Virupapur Gadde) and should not be confused with New Shanthi restaurant / guest house near Virupakshi temple / Hampi Bazar. This is a quite and peaceful place towards the end of all guest houses towards Virupapur Gadde area. After crossing the river, you have to walk for around 1 km to reach this place.

River facing huts are priced Rs 1000/- against regular ones at Rs 650/- . I would recommend river facing ones as it offers a great view. Krishna is the owner of this place and is quite helpful and cooperative. I had some last minute changes in plan which he took care of.

Rooms have mosquito net and attached toilet with WC. In front of room, there is a swing where you can lie down and enjoy the natural beauty. There is no geyser and hot water is available on request in buckets. Power cuts is a regular phenomenon here, though they have genset backup. There isn\'t TV in the room, which was good for me. Guest house has a restaurant, which is a little overpriced. They also provide room service for food.

A WORD OF CAUTION
To reach Shanthi or for that matter any guest house in Virupapur Gadde, one needs to cross the river and boats stop operating after 6 pm. Hence, one should reach the river by 6 p.m., which restricts your late stay in Hampi Bazaar area. Moreover, during heavy rains boats stop plying and you have to take another route , via Hospet which is around 40kms.

Best Experience: 1. View of river and rice fields from your room
2. Peaceful walk towards the old bridge / Bukka\'s Aqueduct

Worst Experience: 1. Overall service can be improved. There was no water and mosquito coil kept in my room. Since, there isnt any intercom in the room and mobile cant be used due to network issue; I can\'t call up reception to remind of these things.
2. I wont say bad experience, but crossing river by 6 p.m. takes away a lot of your free time.

I had fun!

Best Experience: Its just a wonderful experience to wake up to the sounds of sparrows inside your room. Believe it or not, these birds had made little nests on the roof of my cottage! It was lovely. During the day, there is nothing more soothing than to sit and sway in the little swing bed that you find outside the cottage and watch the river flowing past, the paddy fields swaying to the rhythm of the winds and to watch the sun slowly setting behind the hillocks. There would be absolutely no sound around you except for the low gushing sound of the river and the sounds of the various birds around you...

Worst Experience: The electricity could be gone for almost 12hours at a stretch leaving you no option to charge your camera or phone batteries. Even though the electricity had gone off in the middle of the night, it didnt affect me simply because there was torrential rain during the time of my stay there and the nights were cool. The bathrooms are not the best maintained rooms Ive ever seen (the bathroom door didn\'t even have a lock) and doesn\'t have hot water running in the taps. The staff and the service is very laid back, and it could take you some time to even locate a staff in the first place

\'Divine\' for me...I like a place which is secluded and untouched. Shanti Guest House definitely is both. Its a \'getaway\' in true sense. Now many people won\'t like the fact that there is bad signal for your cell phone however I appreciated it. The rooms are pretty basic but suffice. They have hammocks in front of all the rooms and the staff is friendly and courteous, their in house restaurant is one of the best around. All in all, my stay was worth every single penny I spent.

Best Experience: Their restaurant is situated by the rice paddies. So one can enjoy a couple of drinks watching sunset. The hammocks outside the room is unique and fun, one can read book lying down all day. My entire stay was an amazing experience. No crowd, or regular buzz. Away from the city, it was peaceful and I will use that adjective \'Divine\' again.

Worst Experience: None.
