"We made reservations through the..."

We made reservations through the Cox and Kings Package for 2 nights at Corbett and 4 nights at Bhimtal - both Country Inn Resorts. The resort has an amazing ambience. It felt like a whiff of fresh air our long drive from Delhi. We stayed here this May for 2 nights from 10-12 May and had a great time here. The place has been done up very aesthetically, providing a very peaceful and relaxed ambience. The rooms are decent, well equipped and well maintained. I wouldn't say the rooms are great but they just about met our expectations. The bathrooms and the fittings were just okay. No one will expect a huge pink bar of “Nirma Beauty Bathing Soap” staring at you when one walks into a hotel of this category these days! We had the pleasure of having the entire resort to ourselves as there weren't any other guests at the Resort – particularly day 1. When it came to food this situation was not so pleasurable! There was no buffet laid. The staff would show us the printed buffet menu and we could either choose from it or order the whole spread. As ours was a rather large group of 7 adults and 2 children who preferred to eat at slightly different times and would have to order every time. Therefore apart from the food getting wasted, this arrangement was inconvenient too. Anyway by the second day we got into the grove and it was time for us to leave. The resort organized for a jungle safari which was fun but we could not spot any tigers unfortunately. There is a young person in the resort who organizes these safaris along with the Forest Department. He is a sure plus to the resort – he is extremely knowledgeable about the local history and facts. He had some very interesting anecdotes to share and guided us to a village called Choti Haldwani which belonged to Jim Corbett. This place was not included in our itinerary – it ought to have been. Worth a visit, if you are prepared to do some walking.

Best Experience: The ambience of the resort was very charming and "unhotel" like. It was more or a resort. The daily activities were also good. We had a film show about Tigers one evening and a very nice musical performance the other. The staff of the holiday activities team are all very friendly.

Worst Experience: Like I mentioned earlier, the way the buffet was organized could have been better. I am not sure from the F&B Dept's point of view, how they can do it in case of small groups of occupants in the resort but I'm sure there must be a better way. And the bathrooms need a little upgrade.

"Worst stay yet in India,..."

  • Posted May 12, 2008
Worst stay yet in India, somebody need to stop the operation of this Safari and hotel, words that come to mine are scam,

Worst Experience: \"safari\" did not go into the real part of the forest, paying 2500 for a 2h elephant trip when I was told a 4h jeep in to the real forest cost just that because I wanted to not share the trip and be alone, No permit I was told so no Jeep, funny how when you go to this places for only one thing they are not able to fix a permit, might have something to do with me never seeing a permit despite asking and waiting 1 1/2h for it to arrive for me to see, My advise is to stay away from this hotel as the staff was supporting the double rate of he trip, and not the guest... shame on you, somebody need to review if they are allowed to stay open going forward, they put India to shame ...

"Overall the amount charged was..."

Overall the amount charged was not satisfactory.

Best Experience: It was just that we were staying in there. Nothing was best there to mention.

Worst Experience: The Food was yuck! No activities in resort. The Safari was been charged double the amount of other Safari PPl There. The Singer they had could not sing due to his throat problem and no other arrangement was made.No Food Menu in the rooms. Snacks ordered were hard to bite. Every time food menu was same as well as the taste was almost same only name was changed for the dish not the style. No chilled beers were there at the hotel as was mentioned with the menu.
