The temple, located on the northern part of River Cauvery, is dedicated to Lord Budha or Mercury. The idol of Lord Budha is represented by an idol with four arms. The temple, as with all the Navagraha temples, also houses minor idols of the other Navagrahas.
The structure of the temple consists of two huge Gopuram towers on the western and eastern sides. The temple itself faces the east. It is believed that Lord Shiva performed Thandava dance here, that was later on performed at Chidambaram. There are small shrines within this temple that are dedicated to Lord Shiva and Ganesha.
