"This hotel is all about..."

  • Posted Apr 27, 2010
This hotel is all about its location: just next to Coaker\'s walk and on the edge of the valley. The stay was in a Classic room, which has a valley view from room itself, and undoubtedly, the view was good. The hotel has a small lawn adjacent to valley, which is another great plus for this property. You can simply relax in this lawn, savor your hot tea/coffee or have your morning breakfast- all in the lap of nature. The room was also, if not great, was good: neat and clean, wooden floorings and furnitures, spacious bed with clean and neat linen, and spacious toilet with 24hrs hot water. Although we found the room size a bit small for three (2 adults + 1 kid), but in hills, I suppose, one should not expect more. A small table and two chairs adjacent to the large glass window to enjoy the valley view from room, is thoughtful. Lighting within the room is what definitely needs improvement. The room service was good with average food and price. The check out time is what we found odd - at 9 am. Although they have a lounge with satellite TV to spend time after checkout, and one can keep luggages in the hotel custody, still check out time should ideally be at 12noon.

Best Experience: Excellent view of Kodai valley and hill from room. The property has a great amalgamation of resort and hotel, with simplistic environ/decor and no nonsense attitude. Stay, relax, de-stress, savor Kodai valley view and cool air: all in a neat, clean, calm and simplistic way.

Worst Experience: None, actually. But just to complete the list: 9 AM check out time and poor room lighting, are the two things which we found as blot in the otherwise nice experience.

"The resort is a neat..."

  • Posted Nov 14, 2009
The resort is a neat place to be in and the view is very good. The rooms are also neat. But the blankets provided were rough due to overuse and the bed had a lot of insect shit on it. I had to clean them up before use. The geyser was not working on the first day and I had to fight with the resort personnels to get it fixed.

Best Experience: No example

Worst Experience: Worst experience was to get the Geyser in working condition. I first complained at around 6 pm. Even at 9:00 pm, it was not fixed and I had to go and shout at them to get the heater coil changed, even though I had told them to do so since for 3 hrs the water wasn\'t getting heated. The service desk guy was making fun of me as if I\'ve never seen a Geyser in my life. They didnt have the sense to even say Sorry once they realised that I was right and for the inconvienience caused

"Villa Retreat is loacted in..."

  • Posted Jul 4, 2009
Villa Retreat is loacted in the same vicinity as Coakkers walk and am glad I chose it over the other resort at Coakkers walk. It has a wonderful patio looking over the valley. As i had read in the review that the standard rooms, deluxe rooms and cottages don\'t have a view I opted for the Classic View rooms and it again turned out to be a good decision! Stadard rooms are really dull and so are the deluxe rooms.

Best Experience: I am glad I relied on the reviews at Holiday IQ and opted for the Classic View rooms. They have a wonderful view to it. Some are a little small as i got a chance to see the other classic view rooms. The best part is that there are so many things in the vicinity with which u can keep yourself occupied for a while. We would go to coakkers walk in the morning and evenings sometimes (its just 3 bucks per person a ticket) or walk down to the lake and do cycling around the lake. Its the best thing to do. You would get cycles there for Rs 20 for an hour or so and you can cycle around the lake which is a good 5 and 1/2 kms periphery. The Byrant park is right outside the hotel but I found it quite uninteresting.

Worst Experience: As someone had mentioned in their review, the car rates for conveyance (to the hotel and for sight seeing) is pretty expensive if you get it done through the hotel. I opted to take cabs from outside and managed a good bargain also. The most surprising part here is that they provide the heater for a couple of hours and they charge extra for it! It was shocking that it wasn\'t inclusive for a hotel that is on a hill station. Most of the rooms are quite dull becoz of the lighting. Room service is just about okay though the staff is very courteous its the number of them thats a little less. They have a lot of restrictions on the timings of the food services. They have fixed timings like for breakfast it is 7 to 10:30 and dinner 7 to 9. After 8:30 they don\'t take orders as well! Once we got a call early in morning around 7 cause they wanted to ask us if we would like ot place the order for breakfast - that was rather hilarious hospitality! Overall the experience was good

Location is excellent. Improvements in room quality required for the money they charge but not an issue. Car service charges is on the higher side than Market rates

Best Experience: Unexpected cold weather during April but proved to be a great experience Could not expect a better view

Worst Experience: Extra bed charges very high
