About Tikarpada Wildlife Sanctuary

The Tikarpada Wildlife Sanctuary was named after the village of Tikarpada. The sanctuary covers an area of around 795.52 sq km and is one of the largest sanctuaries in Orissa. It provides shelter to leopards, elephants, wild cats, tigers, red-jungle fowl, Indian adjutant stroke and Indian pitta.

The Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre in the sanctuary is known for breeding and conservation of crocodiles in the Mahanadi Ecosystem. Boating, trekking, angling and rafting are some of the activities that can be enjoyed in the sanctuary.
