About Tulja Bhavani Temple

The temple of Tulja Bhavani, which is known as the 2nd among the ‘Shaktipeeths', was built by Raje Shahaji. It is also known as the family deity of Bhosale kings. The temple finds its mention in the "Skanda Puran". The temple is situated on the hill of Bala Ghat, where currently Tuljapur is situated. The two main entrance of this temple are called Raja Shahaji Mahadwar and Rajmata Jijavu main gate. The temple houses two libraries named as Shree Santh Dnyaneshwar Dharmik library and Shree Tukaram Dharmik library at the 1st floor of these two gates.

There two theerth on the right and left side of the temple named Gomukh theerth and Kallol theerth. Devotees take bath in these theerths to purify themselves before Darshan of the goddess. The temples of Siddi Vinayak and Aadishakti Aadimata Matangidevi are situated on the left and right sides of main entrance gate. On the right side, there is also a temple of goddess Annapurna. The main gate of Shree Tulja Bhavani temple named as 'Sardar Nimbalkar Pravesh Dwar". While entering from this gate there is Markandeya Rishi's temple.  After climbing down the stairs, visible is the main Tulja Bhavani temple. There is yagna kund in front of this temple.
