Udaipur food, sight-seeing and shopping options
We bought tickets for a boat ride in Lake Pichola from the City Palace ticket counter and the boat left from the deck of Hotel Fateh Prakash. The boats were very neat and the ride too was a pleasant one. If you take the local boats, you have to see much of the filth and i think taking it from City Palace is a much better option. Many other popular tourist spots like Nehru Island park and Monsoon palace are something you can do without visiting. Remember, a traveller does not stick to popular tourist spots. He/she finds new ones..untouched and unexplored!

Hotel Review of Devigarh Fort Palace Hotel
Comments: Devigarh is an absolutely spectacular property, beautifully adapted to the original fort, with great views, great locations in and around the hotel and a genius architect and interior decorator. However, the fact that it's operated by an independent and relatively new hospitality company does show in some aspects of service and day-to-day running of the resort.
Best Experience: A drink on the terrace bar, with lounge-like furniture, silk upholstery and views over the hills... the Indian cuisine at the restaurant by chef Vishal Dhar... walking around the upper levels of the fort for views and peace and quiet
Worst Experience: waiters who try to push you into choosing the common-or-garden-continental buffet instead of ordering off the menu, somewhat cheap and smelly toiletries in the bathrooms, service that's sometimes on the slow and uncomprehending side, extortionate prices for add-ons -- RS 4,500 for a half day car hire, for example

Hotel Review of Devigarh Fort Palace Hotel
Devigarh really defines luxury, royalty and opulence. The palace hotel has some fantastic rooms (actually suites) with wonderful interiors all done up in marble. Our room had a balcony with a great view of the Aravali ranges. The bathrooms are as large as the rooms and again all in marble. There is even a marble bathtub and separate a shower area. The food is very good, with choices in local Rajasthani dishes as well as other Indian and Continental cuisine....
