Ulavi Basappana Temple is one of the foremost religious centres of the destination, which is believed to be built by the saints of Shaiva cult. The worship centre houses chief deity Chennabasavanna and his disciples, who fled from the hostile Kalyana.
According to the legend, on their way to the forests of Ulavi, the cult made a halt at the site. The shrine features beautifully carved 63 Mantaps. In the month of August every year, a fair is held at the location to celebrate their escape. At this occasion, groups wear colourful dresses, celebrating the eve with contrasting dance performances on the streets.
