Villa Retreat is a lovely fairytale-cottage-styled hotel that gives you the feeling of living above clouds. Right next to Coaker's Walk (and across the street from Bryant Park) we could not have asked for a better location. Considering Kodai is a lovely place for a lazy, idyllic vacation, Villa Retreat is a warm and cozy place to stay. As we checked in on New Year's Day, we were given New Year's treats such as homemade chocolates and gajar ka halwa. The halwa was served hot and it was perfect for the chilly weather. We stayed in their deluxe room with balcony. From the balcony, we could see the terraced houses of Kodai and mist-covered mountains. They provide a geyser in each room, so hot water is available around the clock. WiFi is only available in the lobby and not in the rooms. This is fine if you are on a no-technology vacation, but i feel for the price they're charging, they could have extended this facility to all the rooms. Same with breakfast, it's not complimentary like other hotels, but you get an allowance of Rs. 300 every morning. Anything above that (and it most definitely will be unless you're travelling solo) gets added to your total bill. Ask for room heaters if you need them, they are Rs. 430 a night. The staff were really polite and helpful. If you want to go sightseeing, ask the travel desk to arrange transport for you. If you go into the town, a lot of guys from various cab agencies will come after you with their colorful pamphlets. You never know whom to trust - so approach the hotel guys they'll help you out. But make sure you get a driver who is willing to take you to the various tourist spots - the one we got agreed to take us to 9 places, but on the way made a few excuses and changed the plan. Also, our trip was supposed to be 10 to 4 - he arrived at 11 and dropped us back by 2 (we got the feeling he was rushing us; we wanted to spend some quiet time in the Pine Forest, but he nearly dragged us out in less than half an hour). So be a little strict about that. Better yet, walk around the Kodaikanal - nothing like it, it's a beautiful place! Will i recommend Villa Retreat? Yes, but if i go to Kodai again, i might try out other resorts as well.

The location of this hotel is awesome! One of the best at Kodaikanal. Very close to the lake too and the viewpoint from their private dining area is worth sitting even for hours together! Quiet, peaceful and serene.
Staffs at the place are very helpful and courteous. Sightseeing arrangements made through this hotel is also good. Rooms aren't good-- just average and not worth their tariffs. Valley views are limited from the rooms. The food too, is too pricey and tasteless. Would like to add that if you prefer having breakfast or dinner at this place, think again.

My experience at the hotel was very nice. I didnít face any problem while searching the hotel. The hotel was located inside the city. The allotted room was clean and neat. The activity was not arranged by the hotel. I had visited this hotel with my family. Kid playing area was available at the hotel. The spent money at the hotel was worth.

This place is where you should be travelling. I was in awe when I saw the beautiful landscape and nature. The hotel is situated a little far away but, the architecture is magnificent. The rooms are pretty spacious. The rooms are suitable for a couple as the lighting and the set-up are perfect for a couple. Food was pretty decent. Service was up to the mark.

Kodaikanal is the one of the best honeymoon destinations and also it is famous for its natural beauty. If you want to enjoy your stay more I suggest you Hotel Villa Retreat. Villa Retreat is the best spot to stay in Kodaikanal. Rooms are very clean and neat. Manager and staff are very friendly. The food that served was awesome. You also have free WiFi facility here. It was a wonderful experience for me thank you.

I had been to Kodaikanal with family and stayed in this hotel. It was convenient to locate the hotel and it was close to the city. There was no delay in check in and checkout. The internal and external appearance of the hotel was nice. The staff members in the hotel were helpful and quick in services. The room allotted to me was spacious and it was well maintained with all required amenities in working condition. I ate food in the hotel and it was good in quality and taste with varieties, and the price was affordable. There were no activities in the hotel. Overall, I was satisfied with the stay and it was value for money and I will recommend this hotel to other travellers.

The hotel is easy to locate as it is in the city limit. I had been here with my family and friends for vacations. We had booked two villas which were maintained cleanly with all the basic amenities in good condition. But there are not much staff members available at this hotel. The maintenance of the hotel is up to the mark. Regular cleanliness was made in rooms by the house-keeping. The view from room was very good and rooms were spacious too. The hotel is at walking distance from Kodai Lake and public transport. According to our visit the hotel is very good and money spent was reasonable.

Villa Retreat Overview

This heritage hotel in the form of an English cottage from a bygone era seamlessly blends history with modernity. The architecture of Hotel Villa Retreat evokes memories of Victorian chalets set among green pastures.

The wide rooms and suites have wooden flooring and pinewood ceilings complemented by antique furniture to create a historic ambience. The lounge with a fireplace is a great place to relax and there’s a multi-cuisine restaurant too onsite. Situated at Coaker’s Walk, a busy area in Kodaikanal, the quiet atmosphere at the hotel belies this fact. The lawn is a great place to chill out and enjoy the panoramic views.
