Villa Retreat is a lovely fairytale-cottage-styled hotel that gives you the feeling of living above clouds. Right next to Coaker's Walk (and across the street from Bryant Park) we could not have asked for a better location. Considering Kodai is a lovely place for a lazy, idyllic vacation, Villa Retreat is a warm and cozy place to stay. As we checke....Read More
The location of this hotel is awesome! One of the best at Kodaikanal. Very close to the lake too and the viewpoint from their private dining area is worth sitting even for hours together! Quiet, peaceful and serene. Staffs at the place are very helpful and courteous. Sightseeing arrangements made through this hotel is also good. Rooms aren't good-....Read More
The rooms are very nice, clean and hygiene. Had a pleasant stay with my family, staff are very friendly. I took the valley view and the room was worth the cost. A must stay hotel for everyone, near by coakers walk and main attractions.
This place is where you should be travelling. I was in awe when I saw the beautiful landscape and nature. The hotel is situated a little far away but, the architecture is magnificent. The rooms are pretty spacious. The rooms are suitable for a couple as the lighting and the set-up are perfect for a couple. Food was pretty decent. Service was up to....Read More
Top Reviews of Villa Retreat
We stayed for 5 days, it was honeymoon trip. Awesome location and its very close to Coakers walk, opposite to Byrant Park and walk able distance to lake, shopping, city market. We enjoyed the climate with full of mists and the valley view is excellent from hotel, we stayed one night on Standard room & three nights in valley view room. The view from the room is extraordinary and these valley view rooms are making demands between travelers, those who stayed previously. The staffs are polite and good. There was a huge demand of water at kodaikanal during our visit on 2nd week of Jul 13, even though frequently water supplied by the hotel. The hotel presented a surprising gift for us, which is unforgettable. Tasty food and good valley view restaurant. Also there was a dinning in between of garden, where we can sit and have food facing valley. My observations are, Bonfire cannot be organized here, because of beautiful garden and safety of vehicles in parking and those who are all depending on Credit & Debit cards must carry cash to settle the final payment, if swiping machine not works or network failure. But I don't feel it will be a issue, when the service is good and the location is enjoyable. Over all superb service by the hotel, the cost that worth it.A Romantic trip with unforgettable memories. Room Tip: Valley view rooms are best.
As we checked in on New Year's Day, we were given New Year's treats such as homemade chocolates and gajar ka halwa. The halwa was served hot and it was perfect for the chilly weather. We stayed in their deluxe room with balcony. From the balcony, we could see the terraced houses of Kodai and mist-covered mountains. They provide a geyser in each room, so hot water is available around the clock. WiFi is only available in the lobby and not in the rooms. This is fine if you are on a no-technology vacation, but i feel for the price they're charging, they could have extended this facility to all the rooms. Same with breakfast, it's not complimentary like other hotels, but you get an allowance of Rs. 300 every morning. Anything above that (and it most definitely will be unless you're travelling solo) gets added to your total bill. Ask for room heaters if you need them, they are Rs. 430 a night. The staff were really polite and helpful. If you want to go sightseeing, ask the travel desk to arrange transport for you. If you go into the town, a lot of guys from various cab agencies will come after you with their colorful pamphlets. You never know whom to trust - so approach the hotel guys they'll help you out. But make sure you get a driver who is willing to take you to the various tourist spots - the one we got agreed to take us to 9 places, but on the way made a few excuses and changed the plan. Also, our trip was supposed to be 10 to 4 - he arrived at 11 and dropped us back by 2 (we got the feeling he was rushing us; we wanted to spend some quiet time in the Pine Forest, but he nearly dragged us out in less than half an hour). So be a little strict about that. Better yet, walk around the Kodaikanal - nothing like it, it's a beautiful place! Will i recommend Villa Retreat? Yes, but if i go to Kodai again, i might try out other resorts as well.
I\'m from bangaluru, i visited this place with my wife this March, its a very nice place to stay, the weather was very good, we reached the place at 8 am it was a cloudy day we checked in to the hotel and found that the room was pretty neat and clean, Overall we enjoyed the hotel stay, the valley view was pretty awesome, having breakfast at villa retreat watching the valley view is an experience in itself, the first day while having breakfast we were surrounded by mist and we still cherish that moment. Food offered at villa retreat was also good, but you will feel bored to have the same food to have every day if you are staying for more than 3 days, so try some outside food. There are some very nice views and locations to visit while you stay, better opt for the package that the villa retreat offers, they will arrange a separate vehicle for couple. We personally recon to visit all the view points each of them are good in its own way. Go for boat ride at the lake, take a rented bicycle and go around the lake for a spin, have a walk at the park, Travel advice: if you are visiting form Bangaluru pls try to take KSRTC buses, we had a very bad experience by taking private travels bus (parveen travels) they will false promise you that they will take you on time but the bus will stop some were in Hour for loading cargo for at-least an hour and half after boarding passengers its very irritating. OR you can opt for Train till Kodai road and take a cab to hill top, its the best option, cause the Volvo buses services are available only on weekends. Take some warm clothing if you are visiting in winter, at times it will be very chill and unbearable. Overall it a very nice place for couples to stay and enjoy the beauty that nature offers. Hope this info may help you! Thanks for taking time out to read this. Best Regards, Traveller.
We stayed in Villa Retreat, Kodai Between Feb 26 nad Mar 2, 2011 for five days. I had a pleasant experience right from bookin the rooms till we checked out. We stayed in deluxe room and the view mountains from the room and from the lawn of the hotel was outstanding. The first thing to be mentioned about this place is the hospitality of the hotel. Its excellent and kudos to the management (Zoheb) and the staff (Ashok, the other serving staff). These guys are very professional yet friendly and are there for help when required.
I spent 3 days at the resort, just sitting on the lawn and staring wide eyed in amazement at the plains stretching far below. The resort is loacted on a precipice, right next to Coakers Walk. One can literally get a view of the fall (and the plains) from the bedroom window. It is a grand spectacle indeed and is enough and more to keep you awestruck for a few days. The joy and happiness is componded when you see people walking up and down Coakers Walk to enjoy the spectacle, while you sit comfortably in your garden chair sipping your coffee and taking in the view. The experience was worth every penny I spent on my holiday.
