Villondi Tirtham lies on the way to Pamban and is located at around 7 km from Ramanathaswamy Temple. The term Villondi means 'buried bow' and is believed to be the same spot where Lord Rama buried his bow. Before burying the bow, Lord Rama hit an arrow in the sea for quenching the thirst of His wife, Sita.
This is the single point in the sea, where visitors can find pure drinking water amidst the sea. Villondi Tirtham is also popular for its Ekantha Ramar Temple, which is believed to be the place where Lord Rama stayed, while searching for his wife Sita.
Currently, this temple is under the jurisdiction of Tangachi Matam Panchayat and is managed by Arya Maharashtra hereditary pujaris.
