Touring Karnataka with my husband had one day to spend at Kabini. Booking online was a breeze, directions given on the phone were excellent (we had a novice taxi driver!), the drive was long came from Virajpet ,a bit of the road right at the end was terrible but all was forgiven when we saw the place. Such a beautiful location, bang on the water, niche boutique resort was just right. Absolutely no evidence of office or reception, felt like we were walking into a bungalow exclusively booked just for us. The decor was amazing, there were pictures of the various animals of Kabini adorning the walls, multiple statues/sculptures of Buddha giving a serene look, coffee table books and magazines relating to various nature related topics placed strategically so you just cannot resist picking one up to browse and tiger pug marks imprinted on the floor. The room on the first floor with 2 adjacent walls with wall to ceiling glass windows, so a feeling of oneness with the surroundings was established and no compromise on the amenities; comfortable large bed, high ceiling, very tastefully decorated, wooden flooring and high ceiling, bathroom and toiletries absolutely perfect with running hot/ cold water, state of the art amenities, and then television and Tata sky as well. The balcony had a lovely sit out area with cosy, comfortable chairs and hammock. The dining area was open at a short walk along stone flagged path from the main house, again very tastefully designed. An area for bonfire and sit out also located along the waterfront. Here we were shown a wonderful movie on Kabini while we warmed ourselves in front of the bonfire later in the evening. There was a well maintained swimming pool which of course we had no time for. Food was homely, delicious, well cooked and tasteful, no gourmet fare at all needed. Only word of caution, maybe a good idea to stay with bottled water. The staff was very courteous, helpful and organised our boat and jeep safaris, took us across to the area where it began and all in all saw to it we had an amazing time. Of course, the crowning glory was actually sighting a tiger marking its territory right at the beginning of the Jeep safari! Lots of wild animals to see, the elephants, deer, sambhar, wild pigs, gaur, many different birds, monkeys. I would love to visit again but next time with my kids and stay for a longer time.
The acreage is amid alongside the Kabini river next to the Jungle Lodges and the Serai property. So area astute there deceit be any complaints at all. The access to the resort is appealing simple as able-bodied with acceptable anchorage and able admonition to yield you through to the endure mile. Though Google maps should be acceptable as well. Coming to the acreage its not too all-inclusive but, it has a actual calm and adequate feel to it. Resort in accepted is actual apple-pie and actual able-bodied maintained. And so are the rooms, which are altogether apple-pie and absolutely spacious. The agents are actual affable and patiently acknowledgement all your queries. Even our specific appeal for allowance 11 was accepted and actively this is an alarming room. It's got absolute aloofness and the continued tree-top balustrade (only allowance to accept it, and you accept an absolute hammock) just makes it perfect. Special acknowledgement to the administration association for reserving this allowance for us! The let down for us was with the food. Don't get me wrong, the alignment tasted excellent, not already we had any complaints. The disappointment was with the cafe spread. I anticipate it was absolutely lacking. 1 starter, 1 gravy, 1 bloom and 1 sambhar/rasam for the rice and 1 sweet! Really?! What's with that, I would adopt added options here. Might as able-bodied serve us a thali meals. For a abode like this with amount they allegation you can feel a bit let down and cheated here. Happened a brace of times area the gravy for the roti was not abundance or my wife's admired vegetable. So you accept no best to either eat it or skip that and the rotis all together! Barring that, this abode is appealing alarming and the appropriate abode if you just wish to put your anxiety up and absolutely relax!
Water Woods is around 5 to 6 hours of a good drive from Bangalore. Well planned and excellent architecture gives the resort and rooms a calm relaxing effect. Pool is good and my daughter had very nice time. You can go kayaking or coracle ride apart from Cycling & ATV. Evenings are so nice to have good walk in the banks of the river just outside your rooms. Rooms are very spacious with balcony opening to backwaters. You can enjoy your bath with open showers and quite spacious well designed toilet. You could say food is like home cooked, excellent variety & Chef also caters to your requests, if you tell them in advance. You have an option having your morning tea/coffee served in the room or in the dining area. Staff are extremely helpful, polite & efficient. Housekeeping is another part which I must say is outstanding. Towels are spot clean with very nice fragrance which you don't even get in any 5 Star accommodation. Overall if planning for a quiet, relaxing holiday with nature, Water Woods it the best choice and value for money.
We six of my friends visited this place and stayed for three days and was an awesome experience. The staff were very helpful and the place/ room was very clean and calm. Pool was maintained very good and food was excellent. Good and clean bed and other basic amenities. They even arranged for a bonfire on request and helped us with a smiley face to our last minute requests late night for food and drinks. Ample parking space and its a good place to spend time. There is no restaurant nearby but their menu was good. Choice of drinks were less, however if you are going with family it does not matter. If you are in group, then consider ordering them beforehand so that they can get it from the nearby town during the day. They even arrange for boating on lake on request. It was a wonderful experience, compared to other costly hi-fi hotels on the other side of the lake. Waterwoods is truly worth the time and money that you spend. No doubt I would be choosing this resort for my future trips to Kabini. Thanks to Rajeshwari from bangalore office of waterwoods who provided us with a room with lake view and all other staff at the resort who made our visit a memorable one. I will be visiting soon again with my family this year as well.
You do two things in Kabini. Go on Jungle safaris and hang out in or around the Kabini Lake. Water Woods has a great expanse of Lake waterfront with excellent kayaking and cycling facilities. The waterfront is also good for long walks. The safari is organised by Jungle lodges and all resorts have the exact same experience. Another thing about water woods are the excellent rooms and bathrooms. Very contemporary, very well-maintained and kept spotlessly clean. Food was reasonable but not incredible. We went there when it was raining. Even though monsoon is not a recommended time for Kabini. We had a magical stay with a fine spray mist hanging over the Lake. On the whole, a good place to stay for your Kabini trip.
