"We plan one visit to..."

  • Posted Dec 5, 2010
We plan one visit to Shirdi atleast every 2 years. The last time we visited there, we stayed at Neeta International (having arrived there in their bus from Mumbai!). It was located very conveniently close to the temple complex. But having read negative comments about it everywhere thought of staying in Sai Leela this year. The phone number given at their site works and is responded to efficiently! I called the hotel one day before and was told that I would get a room immediately on arrival. We arrived their at around 10:00 AM and were immediately given a room. The service is fast but not very efficient. We had breakfast in room which was nice, but the tea was not. However the tray was not taken back from the room even after calling. The hotel has a very nice campus with gardens and swimming pool. Though we did not use them they do give a very nice feeling. The room itself was nice and spacious with a balcony. The bathroom is also spacious and has separate cold and hot water but the fittings are a bit old. The AC was very old (non-remote wala!). Even the wooden fixtures were old and the furniture can be better. They have a shuttle service to the temple (Tata Ace magic) which is good as the hotel in a little distant from the temple and the road is not very good. You can in fact call the service once the darshan is over and they will come to pick you up! The food is vegetarian and strictly average and the cutlery could definitely be better. We had to take a cab to Manmad early in the morning and the staff coordinated the cab for us efficiently. In fact the cab was a bit late and the front desk guy was helpful that early in the morning and called the cab person and made sure he reached in time. Overall we had a nice stay at the Sai Leela. But for Rs 2250 (AC room for 1 day for 2 people) I feel its a bit costly.

Best Experience: Large airy campus Good spacious room Evening spent in the balcony (we were pushed inside in half an hour by the mosquitoes!) Helpful front desk personnel Shuttle service for darshan

Worst Experience: Service trays were not taken from room Unclean cutlery Average food

it was a great experience. however we were ther for 1 day only. hotel facilities are good with restaurant.

Best Experience: - we got boiled milk for our child - restaurant food was good - swimming pool, TT table, and garden with swings for children - rooms had intercom and has attached balcony. non-ac room is also ok - free trips to the temple with tata winger

Worst Experience: - temple was a bit far 1 km as compared to others - cab service attached to the hotel was costly than outside.

"Hotel Sai Leela is a..."

  • Posted Oct 26, 2010
Hotel Sai Leela is a dharmashala masquerading as a hotel. It is worse than a guest house. It is nothing but a dharmashala charging three / four star hotel prices. There is no organised management. Nothing is in place. There is no semblance of order anywhere; at any department of this joint. The lobby is dusty and dirty with broken artifacts posing as toys or activity games. The counter is like that of a bank teller\'s where a loud mouthed labour supervisor stands in a white dirty shirt and barks at both customers and staff alike. The entrance to the hotel was surprizingly unmaintained with the cemented tarmac with a lot of black tire tracks which have not been wiped. The grass is standing tall and crabby. The way to the rooms is dusty and looks just like the entrance to a hostel or dharmashala. The hotel lobby is open to the outside and dust can get in uninterrupted. You don\'t enter the hotel through the lobby. You walk into an open portico (reception) and then exit it to reach the rooms, which are in a different wing. That wing is again open to the outside world and nothing is centrally air-conditioned. The rooms have old window airconditioners, which rattle loudly. The walls are painted pink or dirty yellow to arrive at the gerua or saffron effect of Hindu temples. Every staircase landing features an old picture of Sai Baba or Krishna so that guests ignore the problems and keep thinking of gods while happily paying the bills. We drove down from Bombay as we had booked a Double Villa room at a cost of Rs 2,700/- per day. We were shocked after seeing the room which was just like a car garage with no windows to the outside. The back had a rickety swing and a equally disgusting table. The back wall was a crude netting. People were expected to enjoy their holiday in this horrible monstrosity? Oh God. The hotel has no strolleys to carry the luggage but has waiters dressed in loud red shirts carrying the luggage on their backs like porters at a factory or railway station. They have to be called three times to do anything. One of the stewards proudly declared with a frown that they \'were available 24 hours\' if we dial 274 on our intercoms. He didn\'t realise that room service is a basic feature of a hotel and he needn\'t make it appear to the customer as if it is a special favour. No towels were available in the bathroom. A part of the wall was in seepage, which was reaching the ceiling light. The power went off during the first hour of occupying the room. It did not come on even after one whole hour. The phones had gone off too. I called from the mobile and asked if the hotel did not have a generator. They said they had three generators but they needed servicing. So it would take one more hour for the power to come back. We were horrified. I asked on the phone \'is this a hotel or a dump?\' in reply, the person at the reception yelled back calling me to the reception where he would show me the generators his hotel owned. This was a new one, the hotel staff arguing with a customer because he was demanding power in his room. The room itself was dirty and had hair on the floor which had not been swept. The iron grille on the window was just like a prison\'s with no ormamental effect. We ordered food as we were hungry after a six hour drive. The sandwiches were cold and oily. The french fries were drowned in oil. The tea was tepid and tasteless. The food was as bad as a roadside dhaba\'s. Then we wanted some more tea. Our second order never materialised. The corridors were dark and damp. The whole hotel was unwelcome. We did not want to pay for this rubbish dump. We went out and started hunting for another hotel. Just next door was the Shraddha Inn which was invitely better. We took the room they showed us despite the higher cost (Rs 3920/- per day) and enjoyed our stay in Shirdi.

Best Experience: When we were staying in Mumbai in a hotel and were preparing to go to Shirdi, we called Hotel Sai Leela. Pathan at the reception at Sai Leela, promptly gave us the number of Dhantara Travels in Shirdi. Dileep (Operations manager) and Pinto (owner) of Dhantara Travels arranged our pick up from the hotel in Mumbai at the time of our choice with a decent driver and a very nice car at a good price.

Worst Experience: The receptionist (if you can call him that) with a loud voice started arguing when I complained about the prolonged power failure. This the first time I saw that a hotel staffer yells at a guest who is asking for power in his room.

"Fabulous!!! after an overnight journey..."

Fabulous!!! after an overnight journey from Mumbai we checked into Neeta Annexe where we had booked a room only to find it despicable...we were dismayed....so soon after the darshan at trhe temple my hubby went room hunting at a better place and found Sai Leela...very nice ambience,a good place to relax and the deluxe double room was clean and appealing. The stay in this hotel had a refreshing effect on all of us...have decided to recommend it to friends and relatives.

Best Experience: The pick up and drop to the Temple provided free of cost is highly appreciable...The car waited for us after 11pm as we returned after the Shejaarti. All staff members serve wiith a smile.
