Garuda Hotel Reviews

We selected Garuda for two reasons 1. good reviews for budget hotel 2. One local travel agent also suggested it on phone. It was difficult to find the phone no of the owner and more difficult to get answered (Tshering wangdi Bhuita.9733076484) try the manager instead 9647880728 or mail garuda_pelling@rediffmail.com. But once contacted the rest was easy. We had a double room at Rs 1100 with small balcony facing the Kachanzunga Mountains. When we arrived (bit late by sikkim standards) 9pm we were welcomed and were able to order our dinner. The room was spacious & clean with clean sheets and towels. Bathrooms too were clean with electric hot water working geyser. Room service was good. Restaurant serves good food (many outside hotel guest were present so may be its better than others). The hotel seems to be popular among backpacker too.

Best Experience: The atmosphere is that of Tibetian hospitality with the owner and his wife personally interacting with guest. There is a good library of book . Internet facility is available. daily sight seeing tours can be booked from the counter. The best thing that I liked there was MUG full of tea in the morning & Coffee that they served while working on i-net.

Worst Experience: The view of Kanchnzunga was not possible becuase of cloudy weather.

Vrushali , Mumbai, 7th June 2011 Staying at Garuda was a beautiful experience. The view of Mt. Kanchenjunga overlooking our room balcony and windows was breathtaking. Homely peaceful atmosphere. The owner and family and even staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms very clean. Food was excellent, especially, the mouthwatering Tibetan cuisine and sandwiches class! As promised by owner, kept his words . I will highly recommend the hotel to people Who wish to visit pelling.

Staying at Garuda was an awesome experience. The view of Mt. Kanchenjunga overlooking our terrace was breathtaking. The management was quite supportive and friendly. I felt at home there. Food was excellent, especially, the mouthwatering Tibetan cuisine.

Best Experience: Sitting by the fireplace and beating the cold was a nice experience. Mrs. Wangdi, the loving hostess of Garuda, was quite entertaining. Hiking up the monastery through the foggy wilderness was adventurous enough.

Worst Experience: Nothing as such.

I stayed at this backpacker\'s hangout during the last week of Dec\'10. Honestly, I did a lot of research on the web to find a hotel that best suit my needs. I found Garuda as the best value for money. It was truely a previlege to stay at the \'Mother\' of all hotels in pelling (Garuda is the oldest). At Garuda I finally found my second home, offering the best-in-class hospitality, excellent accomodation and service, amicable staff, mouth watering dishes (esp. momos and gyathuks), awesome view of the majestic Mt. Khangchendzonga from the roof and a friendly management. In a nutshell, it was truely a Heavenly experience. Highly recommended for those looking for a tranquil himalayan holiday.

Best Experience: Savoring the delicious Tibetan/Chinese cuisine at the cozy restaurant while warming my bones beside the fireplace as the temperature hovered around freezing point. Watching their dynamic incumbent manager \'Krishna\' prancing around the hotel.

Worst Experience: When I had to say \'Adieu\' as the world welcomed 2011.
