The overall experience was above average but not outstanding, quality of food being a major let down. It was largely offset by excellent service, very good rooms and great weather !! Kasmanda palace is a heritage property of the Welcomgroup at Mussoorie. Location is almost ideal, situated right on the mall road. I visited there during the 3 day weekend last month - 13th to 15th August, with my wife and 4 year old daughter. It seems the whole of delhi had descended in mussorie but we were lucky to beat the rush on the route by reaching there by 13th noon (most people reached by evening), having stayed at Dehradun the previous night. The resort is very well kept and gives a feeling of having been transported to a bygone era, with its many game trophies (you have many tiger skins, leopards, bisons, deers, etc.) and its ample collection of paintings and photographs of the british period. The rooms are quite good, large and airy. Ours in particular had an excellent window side view of the hills. The attached bathroom was again quite large and comfortable. The outdoors of the hotel was again quite good and one could take cool strolls any time around it or sit around small tables set up outside. There were some swings for the children as well

Very good experience

Posted 1 Dec, 2011

We stayed at the Kasmanda Palace for one night on November 3, 2011. There were very few guests at this small hotel while we were there, but I believe this was due to the time of year. This is a very old and historic hotel converted from a raja's summer palace. When it was retrofitted with modern plumbing and facilities, the designers did a great job of installing amenities without destroying the historic elements of the building. The photos on the walls of long-dead rajas and maharajas gave an atmosphere of the era of the princely states. Everything was highly polished and fixtures and utilities worked flawlessly. It is clear that a lot of work and attention goes into maintaining this hotel. I would caution potential guests that the Kasmanda Palace is high on a hill above the Mall Road. The Mall Road is closed at certain times to vehicle traffic which means that your car cannot get up to the hotel grounds. The solution is to phone the hotel just before you arrive to have the hotel staff meet you at the Mall Road guard station to bring you and your luggage up the hill. It is pretty steep to climb up with your bags, but the staff was very helpful in this regard. The hotel site has a beautiful view of the Doon Valley and you may be awakened by the chattering of monkeys on the roofs and in the gardens. The rooms are quite comfortable and interesting with very high ceilings and rather unique decor dating from the time of the British Raj. Food is served in a beautiful dining room which is a sort of "long gallery" at the back of the building. The food quality was excellent and the service was almost too attentive with at least 3 servers present at all times. When the weather is good, there are beautiful terraces and gardens surrounding the property, I am sure that tea and other meals can be taken there at the appropriate time of year. I was impressed that the hotel had a full staff despite the fact that there were very few guests. I prefer small, older hotels because of the sense of history they convey. If you feel the same, you will love the Kasmanda Palace. If you like glass and plastic, it is not the place for you. If and when I return to Musoorie, I will certainly stay again at this beautiful, well managed small hotel.

The Hotel is located at a great vantage position, overlooking the huge expanse of the Doon Valley. The rooms are well appointed with period furniture, the staff is graciuos, couteous and well informed. The food is good, but the choice is limited. The isolation from the hum of the Mal, inspite of being located on the Mal, is exhiliarating. A really enjoyable and comfortable stay

The rooms are spacious and the staffs, well, treat you no less than a king. The hotel is conveniently approachable from the famous Mall road yet is comfortably away from the hustle and bustle of the market place.

Very nice and enjoyable location

Posted 23 Dec, 2014

The overall hotel was good. The hotel was conveniently located and easy to travel and location was very enjoyable and very good. The service and staff was also very good and polite. The room allocated was good with all amenities. I was very comfortable with room but there was no view. The food was also provided and it was very good. There are not providing any other activity. They provide sufficient place for parking. The only suggestion is that they should change in furniture.
