I been to Darjeeling 1 month ago, the place was amazing and I have enjoyed a lot. I stay at WelcomHeritage Windamere Hotel, Darjeeling. WelcomHeritage Windamere hotel is really one among the good hotels situated near Observatory Hill, Darjeeling. Here, you will get all necessary item like a home. You never get bored here. The hotel provides better spacey rooms with fully Air conditioned. In addition, the facility of tea and coffee inside the room will really makes your mood up. Beside that, the well-mannered staff's and it's kind behaviour will really makes feel relax. Apart from that, the eye catchy outside environment will really make you fan of this place. It's location is so fabulous that, it seems you are speaking directly to nature. So, friends if you are planning visit Darjeeling then, you should make your resort point at WelcomHeritage Windamere Hotel.
A wonderful place to be, at any time of the year! The hotel has kept the Raj etiquette and culture intact and at times, this is a pleasant change from the mundane, plastic politeness displayed by most staff in other hotels. The food is out of this world. The rooms are yearning out to you, to say- come and enjoy your stay with us! There is also a museum of sorts where the Royalty and the Celebrities have recorded their presence and you can relish their comments with your own added! The only negative about this hotel is that a view of e Kanchenjungha is about 200 feet away! You have to walk out this distance to see the abode of the Gods.
Darjeeling is often called a Queen of the hills, an exotic place to revisit beauty of nature. One of my favourite destination all over India. Just to escape city crowd we planned a trip for Darjeeling and for stay we opted for "Windamere Hotel", the experience was quite nice. Location was quite exotic as it was situated on a observatory hill, we can overlook all the surrounding neighbouring countries. Rooms were quite clean with all the amenities and good staff support. Food was also good as expected covering both Indian and Continental cuisine. We visited Tiger Hill, zoo, a monastery and various other locations, latter we proceeded for our trip to Gangtok. In short this hotel is very good if you want to experience exotic Indian hospitality.
This is a wonderfully rustic feel about the hotel, right down to the dust! :D Though if you discount a few cobwebs here and there, it is a great place to stay. If you like laid-back vacations, this is the place to be! Service is not exactly prompt, but you've got to adjust to the time here. Relax and let the vacation happen to you, and it will. The food is good, solid Continental stuff, with great breakfast options. The staff will happily point you towards local attractions too.
I travelled here in June month with my wife. It was a romantic holiday. I booked my room directly. Booking and front office was very nice. Location was awesome. Look wise the hotel was fantastic. Food was tasty. South Indian food was available. Complimentary breakfast they served. Rooms were well managed, neat and clean. Staff behavior was friendly. Services were fully satisfactory. They arranged candle light diner facility. Activities were nice. Darjeeling place is fabulous for travel. This hotel is recommendable for others.
It was nice experience to stay at Welcome Heritage at Darjeeling. We enjoyed the stay, food and services. We enjoyed weather of Darjeeling. It was very nice sunrise view. We enjoyed shiny golden Everest mountain view. Walking on a streets of Darjeeling adds romantic flavours in our heart.
It has a very poor hospitality and they charged 1500/- and above. The hotel location was good and I went with my friends. They did not provide hot water and there was no service available. It was a family trip and the rooms were okay but water facilities were not there. We had our food outside and there were no activities available. We went in the month of April 2013.
Nice hotel ambience was fine, everything was upto the mark. Hotel staff were cordial, food was good though the charges were on higher side. But the location was awful with such expense hotel needed to provide good view.
Top Reviews of WelcomHeritage Windamere Hotel
Windamere hotel is the best hotel to stay in Darjeeling. It is a heritage hotel with colonial appearance and feeling. The two nights stay in the hotel was amazing. I felt like being in the era of British raj and spending holidays with "The Queen Of Hills". The rooms are decorated in such a way that you get a colonial feel. All the rooms come with a fireplace and furnitures which are quite old. The rooms which have the view of the Mall area are much better option. One would surely love the floral furnishing in the rooms. The "Observatory House" rooms are quite charming. The Mahakal temple is halfway located towards the hotel at Observatory Hill. The place is only a few minutes from the Mall area and located at a serene place with a good view all around. The food is included in the package and the package is quite high being one of the luxurious hotels in Darjeeling. The hotel staffs are good and their service is really appreciable. If you want to hire cars, do not hire it from the hotel travel desk because they charge you approximately two times more than any other agent near the Mall area. So if you need a car, rent it from any agent but not the hotel. You can also talk to any driver directly to get a good deal. If I visit Darjeeling again, I will surely stay in the "Observatory House" rooms again. I had a good experience in this hotel. I suggest this hotel to the travellers who are looking for luxury stay in Darjeeling.
An excellent hotel for the discerning traveller who wishes to experience the charm and service of a bygone era when hotel staff genuinely cared about their guests. Rooms are very tastefully furnished and the hot water bottles slipped into your bed every night while you are at dinner and live coal fires in the bedroom are a wonderful experience in this day and age. The service in the dining room was immaculate and nothing was to much trouble for the waiting staff. The was an excellent and extensive choice at each meal - both European and Indian - the European dishes being mainly those served during the British Raj - a wonderful culinary experience. Probably not a very good hotel for children as play facilities limted but an excellent hotel for the more experienced and sophisticated traveller who can appreciate the charm and gentility of how a hotel ran in the days of the Raj - very understated quality.
