Loved the stay at The Wild Elephant. The view and the surrounding tea plantations make this place an awesome place to kick back and relax. Not to mention the pool with a view. They don't have a 24hr working restaurant. So be sure to pack a lot of snacks. Will definitely visit The Wild Elephant again.

The overall feel was good. The jeep trail trip offered by them was not at all a package as explained to us by them. The jeep they booked for us which is supposed to come at 4:00 pm arrive at 6:00 pm and we we're not able to complete the whole trail neither visit all the places in the trail since it was dark.

There is no live restaurant. You've to order what you need early and don't expect them to take an order later.

Overall the feel was good and awesome :)

Hotel location as well as view is quite also the arrangement of the rooms and the plantation around the hotel is also good but hot water arrangement is very poor.

Food quality is pretty good but I don't understand why they have made Swimming pool as always there is temperature below 20.

The place is located interior but an awesome place. Supportive staff, amazing beauty of the place, superb serene. If you're looking for tranquility at Kerala then this is the place. I've been there with my hubby n my baby of 3. 5 years young. Would love to visit the place again and again. There was a water flow just opposite to the room.

If you want to give your money the best value, just stay there. Awesome view, helpful service boys, lots of activities and what not. We stayed there like we stayed in heaven. People loves nature, for them it will be the real heaven. From the hotel you can go to the core tribal area to see how they live and you can experience the bamboo cooking style.

WEER (I feel tired to write the long name! ) is as picturesque as it appears in web photos. The so-called Standard rooms on first floor of the front building do not have integrated balconies and thus offer no view from within room unless removing curtains from the large window onlooking entrance over a common balcony. This totally compromises privacy of the room. Deluxe room do have a narrow balcony that is a prized possession during the stay. MakeMyTrippers beware, don't get lured by lower tariff of a standard room, as you would inevitably wish to graduate to a Deluxe one checking in a Standard one. Layout of standard rooms, though, are not bilaterally identical in layout. We were offered a cottage on a lower ground level because of a valve gland leakage in the first floor Standard room where we spent the first night. This cottage was excellent with a balcony onlooking the Viripara falls over the adjacent road through Letchmi tea estate. My only grudge with this cottage was its awkwardly placed commode (which lets your feet dangling in air! ) and absurdly placed toilet paper holder which creates a hole on your scalp without miss when you leave the toilet seat. I have my full sympathy with manager Mr. Anil Kumar who always wears a smile on his face despite having to run a facility at an awkward location against all odds.

WEER might have to 'coax and cajole' the municipal authorities/politicians to smoothen the pothole-ridden 17 km stretch up to the Kallar-Mankulam junction where you happen to land the NH 49. The 25 km detour from Munnar centre is negatively overshadowing the otherwise enchanting beauty of WEER. I have seen people leaving pre-booked room to look for some place close to heart of Munnar. A drop to Munnar by autorickshaw will cost you Rs. 500. Cars are far more expensive. The Munnar sightseeing will cost you Rs. 2300 by car. The same trip will cost you Rs. 1200 by autorickshaw on a kilometre basis (Rs. 9 per km). Avoid visiting Top Station in a foggy day as you will see nothing at that view point. This will cut 14 km from the trip. I did not do the Jeep safari and hence cannot comment on its content and quality. Do visit the Berijam lake, Kundala lake and, if possible, the beautiful Anaierangal lake on the way to Madurai. The last one is an wild elephant zone, so exercise caution.

I loved this resort as it is loved by birds! The Hill myna, the red whiskered bulbul, scarlet minivet, purple-throated sunbird are few to mention from a long list of them; some exotic varieties of butterflies too are there. I don't know the names. The forest authorities should stop extorting the tourists of Rs. 20 fee at the Viripara falls, I don't know what their contribution is in 'maintaining' the falls at its own place for the tourists, however, the resort has nothing to do in this.

Last but not the least, WEER should be off-limit to smokers. Owners, are you listening? Loud music and cigarette smoke must be kept at bay from an eco-friendly resort, strictly implementing this discipline even by a notice at the entrance, whatever harsh it may sound. I had to stop bird photography and leave the beautiful lawn twice just to avoid passive smoking from an idiotic guest.

PS: Open the roof top for guests implementing well thought safety handrails/parapet walls (to discourage the suiciders), as they may offer some breathtaking views of the mountain/valley, esp for one's not having balconies with their rooms. Cut or aesthetically bend the unsightly steel rebars jutting out from the right edge of the building. Using uPVC plumbing fittings may prove beneficial with borewell water in the long run. Else switch to Essco/Jaquar for CP fittings. Use SS hoses for health faucets (Hindware/Watertec). Centralised water heating may be thought of with insulated CPVC piping for distribution. Think of using centralised LPG cylinder manifold and piped gas supply to LPG geysers installed at cottages. This will minimise the risk of having individual cylinders behind cottages.

We visited the property for our wedding anniversary, which was during November. It was monsoon season due to which we had a tough time locating the place since there were no sign boards and no guidance at all. So finally some how we made it. We reached around 9:30 in the night after which we were guided to our room. They gave us a suit room since pretty much all the rooms were vacant. Since there weren't many guests we were told that there is a limited choice of food available ( only one variety). The food was a big NO NO for us. The pool was not in service, there were leeches(I would not blame the hotel folks because first of all it was rainy season and it was right in the thick forest, so no worries).

Rating

Property Location: 10/10
Attractions: 3/10 (except one waterfall..nothing more to see)
Staff Courtesy: 8/10 (spot on. very friendly folk)
Food: 3/10 (may be we visited the place during off season)
Accessibility/connectivity : 3/10 (no proper cellular network, bad wifi)
Would I recommend the place: definite yes
Would I visit the place again: may be

I had been to Munnar and stayed in Wild Elephant Eco Friendly resort. The hotel was conveniently located. The appearance of the hotel was good both interior and exterior. The check-in and check-out was done on time. The room service was good. The room allotted to me was spacious and it was well maintained with all required amenities in working condition. The food served in the hotel was good in taste and quality and the price was reasonable.

Must Stay. Totally recommended!

Hotel is situated in a "Dream Location". While staying in this hotel you will get the real feel of Munnar. Hotel staff are extremely friendly and specially the owner. Owner and staff were so good that, they surprised us by creating bonfire specially for us.

Resort is surrounded by tea garden, spice garden and waterfalls "A Paradise for travellers who are looking for adventure and peace at the same time".

A perfect romantic destination also. There are two roads to Munnar city from this resort. You will get excellent "Photo Spot" on both the roads.

Pros:
1. Location
2. Friendly staff
3. Living close to nature.
4. Jeep Safari
5. Trekking
6. Great food.
7. Excellent photographic spots.
8. Peaceful And Fresh Environment.

Cons:
1. Difficult to reach.
2. Road to resort is not good.
3. Resort to Munnar - 15km
4. No mobile network available.
5. No telephone facility available in rooms also.
6. Flies in rooms (But its a part of nature)

Advise:
1. Try to reach the place before sunset.
2. Contact the hotel staff and get the accurate location before reaching because its difficult to find this place.
3. Must carry BSNL SIM Card.
4. If you have problem with flies then must carry a repellent.

The location of the hotel was excellent. The hotel was located far from the city but, I didn't find any difficulty to reach the hotel. The room allotted to me was neat, clean and well-maintained. There was a very good view from the window of the room. The breakfast was complimentary at the hotel. The food was served and was very tasty from the hotel restaurant. The staff of the hotel were friendly and they were helpful to the customer. The overall, experience was a good stay at the hotel.
