This is the best hotel ever to stay at Kaziranga. We had a group of 10 people. And we enjoyed here. Also the owner Mr. Manju buara is a very polite, kind and helpful person. He arranged for us Jeep Safari without any extra cost Food was amazing. Morning and evening tea was complimentary with lip smacking snacks. Dinner and lunch was also amazing. Rooms are quite large and very well furnished. Inshort the whole property is superb A must stay if at Kaziranga
My visit to Kaziranga in the month of January 2017 and stayed in the Wild Grass Lodge. It was my business trip with family. My travel destination was very good with necessary comforts. I would rate the location as average. I would rate the appearance of the hotel as average. I would rate the front desk staff as good because of their responsive on time. I booked this hotel via online. The house keeping services in the hotel were good because of responsible quick service. Rooms which we stayed in were good with facilities and hygiene. I would rate food as average.
Stayed at Wild Grass Kaziranga in the last week of December, 2015 and I thoroughly enjoyed the simple (no unnecessary frills) of the lodge. The staff were very helpful and courteous where everything was taken care of once a request was placed. Highly recommended Wild Grass to anyone who wants to spend any length of time at Kaziranga even though, it could be slightly on the expensive side.
While many properties in Kaziranga are partially closed during the off-season (May-Oct), Wild Grass continues to serve its guests. It is one of the first jungle lodges in Kaziranga. It is located slightly away from the cluster of hotels of Kohora Central Range and thus has a peaceful ambience. It is a boutique jungle lodge, it also has a good collection of photos and books on wildlife.
Travel Details: Mode of transportation: Car Road: Road is kind of mixed and good from Jorhat to Kaziranga. Three way lane construction is going on and you will see lot of road workers enroute. The journey was pleasant as both side it was full of green lush grass and tea gardens. You can find lot of resorts, dhabas and hotels enroute but we found this hotel enroute feeding us with hot Roti and paneer masala, it was yum (Photo attached). Please give a try, it's an average hotel but food was yum Destination Wild Grass Hotel: There was detail mail from the hotel about the location. Please read the mail otherwise you will definitely miss the spot. When you are just entering the road hotel, you will definitely feel it's not the place. We reached around 11 for check-in. Our room was not ready. At first view of the hotel, you will feel the place like an abandoned building reelected with Quick Fix. After almost 30 minutes, after all the formalities was done, our room was ready First floor room with wooden floors you will feel and hear the sound of walking. If you get first floor rooms ensure that nobody stays especially with kids above your room. If it happens you will have an unpleasant night Next comes the room. It contains two beds separated with a peck table and you are able to see lot of old furnitures and two easy chairs. The beds are cushiony and comfortable. My one year kid enjoyed by jumping on the bed. The room is well ventilated and light is minimum with 100 watts bulb. Hot water facilities are available. One geyser is solving the purpose Food : The menu is so less and the quality is so pathetic. The fried rice we ordered was so horrible. Worst Kitchen Jeep Safari: It is wonderful experience, everyone must try. Take evening ride on the western side. You will be able to spot the rhinos closely Dinner review : After our worst experience during the lunch, we decide to move out our dinner. IORA Resorts is the place we went for dinner. The food and bar was so excellent we had a blast. The hotel and kitchen is so good. If you are able spend more bucks, please choose IORA for food and ambience, Pool and Spa. If you choose Wild Grass, you will definitely feel that you are staying close to nature.
Relaxation in the lap of nature, it's the best hotel with pick-up, reception, hospitality, rooms, environment and specially the food were awesome. I stayed three days last year. Jungle safari to elephant ride everything were well arranged, nothing to say more. Superb experience.
Roughly a Kilometre from the highway into the woods. Surrounded by greenery and tall trees with details. Truly unfriendly with all amenities and great food (less spicy but great taste). Staff are very helpful in exploring Kaziranga National Park. They arrange for safari also. A chat with Sri. Manju Barua was mesmerizing as he gave the complete details of the Kaziranga National Park, habitats of the park and Brahmaputra River.
We went to stay at Kaziranga and stayed at Wild Grass Resort !!. We went to explore the wildlife at Kaziranga, when we reached Kaziranga, it was almost dark. Mr. Dilip Gogai called us and came to receive us on the main road and escorted us towards the hotel. As soon as we entered the hotel, we were served with water! Then we were given keys of the rooms and the hotel boy escorted us with our luggage. Rooms of Wild Grass are one of the best rooms I have ever stayed. Rooms had wooden floor with very cosy beds. The room was very clean and most important the bathrooms/toilets were very clean. Then we went for dinner and food was too delicious and was served hot. Non veg served was delicious and in our 3 days stay, every day we were served with different variety of food. We enjoyed it a lot and best was interaction with Mr. Manju Barua, the owner of the hotel. He was too polite and receptive and when he came to know we were interested in watching the wildlife, he gave a list of birds and animals which could be seen in that area. Accordingly we planned our safaris and whenever you visit Wild Grass, see to it you meet Mr. Manju and get the updates from him. This is one of the most beautiful property, where staying was a memorable experience. Friends you must visit Wild Grass!
It was a very nice place to stay but the only problem was that the sign board was not very visible due to night and took some time to reach. The atmosphere was very pleasing with vast area. Check-in and check-out process was quick. The ambience was just wonderful. The room was very neat, clean and maintained. Forest area was visible from my room. The food was amazing there. Wild safari was arranged by the hotel. Next time I would definitely stay again in this hotel. I would surely recommend this hotel to others.
Great place and very helpful staff. Nothing too much trouble. Book well in advance as it's very popular with tour groups. Good jeeps and drivers. Involved in local conservation efforts and working with local communities. Prices have increased since 2010 but still good value in 2014. Will definitely go back!
Being an avid wildlife traveller, Kaziranga was on top of the list since years. It all started with a normal with Mr. Manju Barua from Wild Grass. He not only guided us for Kaziranga but also for Nameri and Shillong. And the best thing was that the advice came from someone who knew the area very well, who knew the expectations of a wildlifer well and all the information provided was genuine and latest. Unfortunately we couldn't meet him at Kaziranga. We met Mr. Dilip Gogoi at Wild Grass Kaziranga, and he too was a fine man. All our food, travel and safari arrangements were ably handled by him. The food at the hotel was great, we being vegetarians it was difficult to expect good vegetarian food at Kaziranga but the food was excellent. The rooms were comfortable. Last not the least, our safari jeep guide and driver Puklu was an excellent guide. Overall had an amazing stay at Wild Grass, Kaziranaga. We would be surely visiting again.
We visited Kaziranga for one night stay. Firstly it was really difficult to find the hotel because there is no signage provided and the person who was trying to guide us from the hotel on call, did not have the best communication ability Secondly, after reaching the hotel room, when we were unwinding - there was a huge spider in the loo. However nobody seemed bothered. They did not even seem equipped to deal with any pest/rodent/animal entering the room (although given the near-forest location, it is highly likely) Lastly, they ran out of food, every time for our group. Worse, the manager took a call to serve some of the non-Indian tourists directly to their table, while the Indians were expected to help themselves from the buffet The good things I must point out too Awesome location and experience in terms of stay. The denigrating room reeks of old world charm, the perfect setting for narrating adventure stories in the cold of the night. A power cut can make matters even more storybook-like Food taste was really good! Also, they have a very low cost dorm which is the form of a thatched hut. If you are in a group, and want to spend the night in a little inconvenient but fun way, then it's apt for that! It works out to be a lot cheaper than the rooms, and is a fuller experience in the forest!
Everything was very nice with this hotel. Cottage type rooms are available, and they were well managed with all modern facilities. They organized cultural program as well for 1 hour in the night; that was really nice. Food was tasty. Veg and non-veg varieties were available. Bengali food is also served here. Complimentary breakfast was available. Hotel was fully money worth. Two days stay cost me about Rs. 4900. Services were fully satisfactory. Rooms were well furnished, neat and clean. Just advance booking facility was available and I booked my room in advance via mail. Pick up and drop facility was available. Booking and front office was helpful. Activities were very nice. Hotel is based on a village-type theme and is located in some forest area. Location was good. Appearance is well maintained.
Location was okay as it was little far away from the main tourist place, in a jungle. Appearance was good, staff behavior was fine. We didn't face any delays with check-in and check-out. Room was spacious, neat and clean with amenities in working order. Food was great and we preferred non-veg. They don't have swimming pool or other activities, but parking space was sufficient. They would arrange for sightseeing trips if requested. They should have some more staff and maintain more cleanliness in the hotel.
We were a group of 5 guys in Kaziranga during November and after looking at most reviews on the net we finally decided to stay at Wild Grass Lodge. The resort is about 200 meters away from the highway a km or so after Kohora (while coming from Guwahati) and is located amongst a quiet neighborhood away from the hustle and bustle of the highway. The property has sprawling gardens and huge trees along with the cottages The rooms are built like an apartment building but are clean and cozy. They have wooden flooring which can be a bit noisy. They are quite spacious although the bathrooms are a bit dated. They have an in house restaurant which serves very nice food and we had all our meals here. There are a few restaurants on the highway but since we did not have our own vehicle, we did not venture out except for the safaris The staff were absolutely wonderful and we had absolutely no issues. Please do inform them beforehand regarding Elephant safari tickets because we were unable to get our preferred safari time because we informed them late, however they did manage to find us tickets for the next safari. They will arrange for jeep safaris as well Although we went as a group, this place is perfectly suitable for families also. Overall, we had a lovely stay in Kaziranga and would recommend Wild Grass Lodge to anyone who wants to visit the place.
