Great Property!

5.8/7
Posted 21 Apr

I stayed at Windflower Resorts for 3 nights on a personal trip and loved the experience. Everything about this hotel was wonderful. The food was delicious. The staff was courteous and polite. The property is massive, and you can spend some good time inside the hotel in addition to exploring the city. I strongly recommend this place for a luxurious stay in Coorg.

Staff at the spa are professional, enormous rooms.

3.9/5
Posted 29 Apr, 2014

The property itself is about 1. 5 kms from the Mysore-Madikeri main road (4 kms after the Suntikoppa town if you are driving from Mysore). There are not many sign boards, cross Suntikoppa and follow the 2 or 3 Windflower sign boards. Once you take the turn from the main road, then it is just the narrow 1. 5 km driver to reach the resort We booked a Suite and we were not disappointed. The check in was smooth and the hotel had honored our request for a suite in 1st floor with a nice (big) balcony. A resort staff gave us a orientation of the facilities and walked us to the suite - This was nice and during the 5 minute walk, we were properly educated with the surroundings, facilities and the package inclusions. The suite itself was enormous with a living room, a bed room and a vast Bath that included 2 showers and a Jacuzzi. The view from Balcony provided ample greenery and wonderful chirping sounds of various birds to calm the mind. I guess the view from villas were better since they are located right next to the resort "pond", but I have no complaints about the view from the suite. About the resort facilities - they have the standard game room with carrom, chess, etc, a childern's play area, table tennis and so on. The pool has been the marketing material in all of the websites and we were eager to try it out. This is a really different pool in terms of the design and contrary to some of the reviews I read, it is indeed maintained well. The green colour of the pool comes due to the reflection of huge trees surrounding it and not because it was not clean. I saw the pool being cleaned everyday from 9-10 am while having breakfast. There is also a baby pool attached to the main one. The only problem is that there is no life guard or supervisor, so people with kids need to be careful as there is no staff supervising the swimmers There are activities on chargeable basis - cycling, Zorbing, Jeep ride and so on, which is worth trying and indulging in provided you have a flair for nature ride on your own! We did go for the plantation walk and got a bit educated about the coffee plantations - It is a one hour walk across the property where you get to see coffee and other spice plants/trees - we felt that it was not really worth as we had been to similar plantation Tours earlier They have a spa with limited services. The staff at the spa are very professional and did their job well. We enjoyed the spa treatments (although a bit expensive) and contrary to a review that I read, the spa bills were directly included in the room bill. Food has been commented a lot and here is my 2 cents - Windflower Coorg has a good spread of soup, salads, starters and main course. Yes, it gets a bit repetitive after a couple of days and that is an area that could be improved. We really did enjoy the food Chef Mr. Nanda Kumar needs a special mention that made our stay more memorable. First, he volunteered to provide us what we like and when we requested for traditional Coorg Akki Rotti, he made it for us. Then again, for one of the dinners, we received a special "kebab platter" which was not in the buffet. This was a unique and personalized experience. Mr. Swamy and Mr. Madhu at the restaurant are very helpful and know how to please the guests. Housekeeping and Maintenance guys are efficient and they respond to your requests. The Jacuzzi does not have a shower/Hand faucet - a much needed accessory for the tub! A great resort which still has the potential to become one of the greatest if the management focuses on making the welcome experience more friendly and adding more to the landscaping, over and all a good experience !.

A palette of light and shadow

4.5/5
Posted 1 Jun, 2015

It was a palette of light and shadow, an arcadia of winding tracks amid luxuriant coffee bushes, lofty silver oaks swaddled in pepper vines, orange trees, and jackfruits and the occasional mango. With no man made intrusions, the wooded estate joyously proclaimed the glory of nature, under a cloudless sky. Crickets kept up an unending chirp while birds of different feathers tweeted and warbled and yodelled, proclaiming that they are the masters of this domain. Drenched in overnight showers, foliage glowed a brilliant green, while grass edging the twin tracks on the path glistened with fresh moisture and leafy branches swayed lazily in the cool morning air. The intermittent splattering of dung on the twisting trail could've come from horses, deer, or even elephants that occasionally roamed the estate I was in The Windflower Resorts & Spa in Coorg. Just a two-hour drive from Mysore along a smooth and winding highway, this secluded retreat ensconced within a sprawling 25-acre coffee plantation and perched over 5000 feet above sea level promises contemporary luxuries, gourmet food, wellness therapies and interesting adventure and leisure options Accommodation comes in three categories: studio, suite, and villas. The studios promise contemporary comforts without really indulging the guests and are not ideally placed to view sweeping vistas of the surrounding hills from their balconies. The suits are better located along a winding paved path bounded by landscaped gardens. The interiors are designed to indulge. Pull back the curtains on the wide French Windows in the living room and the distant hills beckon you, or step onto the deck just outside and take in the verdant misty slopes while relaxing on rattan chairs. While parquet flooring, plush seating, and warm lights make the living room cosy, the bedroom is large and spacious, with recliners and other pieces of furniture adding comfort and utility and large windows letting you savour the outdoors while you lie snug in the downsized bed. The bathrooms are a delight too: trendy fittings, a Jacuzzi, glass enclosed shower niche and an open-air shower in a cosy little pebble-strewn yard. Toiletries are generous and classy too. But the villas go up another notch in terms of comforts and space. Bedroom and living are roomier with added accessories and so is the Bath, but it's the wooden deck outside the living area that takes the cake. Surrounded by clipped hedges that provide ample privacy, a capacious Jacuzzi that can accommodate four adults with room to spare, sits on a patch of grass. Lounging chairs on the deck surrounding the Jacuzzi invite you to bask in comfort and may be catch up on your Reading With such attention to creature comforts, food cannot be any less pretentious. The turbaned restaurant in this spanking new resort is wide and spacious and sits on a lower deck below the huge reception portal and overlooking the infinity swimming pool. Rattan chairs and glass topped tables, rows of lights under cane and cloth shades hanging from the high ceiling, a patch of green with a tree growing right through the ceiling, decorative light fixtures and an entire side open to the green outdoors make for an ideal setting to savour the gourmet fare. A-la-carte or buffet is based on occupancy but both offer Indian, Asian, continental and the local Kodava cuisine. Chef Vishwanath boasts years of experience, including long stints at Laitha quarter Palace Hotel, Mysore and similar other hotels and resorts. While romantic dinners are arranged under a gazebo outdoors or by the poolside under the stars, the health conscious are indulged with wellness cuisine in the spa restaurant The Emerge Spa here is definitely a welcome feature, housed inside a separate block not far from the meandering line of suites and villas. The entrance foyer is a study in peace and elegance. The muted shades of the walls, the softened flooring, art pieces sitting pretty on the walls, the minimalist but classy furniture, peaked roof resting on polished wooden rafters all contribute to the understated but tranquil ambience. Adding to the tranquillity, a peaceful visage of Buddha on a large granite bust sits inside a rectangular pool under a patch of sky. The lower floors house the massage rooms for traditional ayurvedic massages and other procedures, while the upper floors has rooms for Balinese massage and other wellness treatments. Services range from are a half-hour head and shoulder massage to 90-minute ayurvedic aroma therapy massage and more. The Balinese treatments are something special. Steam, sauna and chilled showers add to the experience. While a walloped Gym caters to the fitness freaks, Yoga and meditation classes every evening purvey the mind and body The swimming pool here boasts an interesting setting. Surrounded by lush greenery and lofty old trees, the contoured pool is capacious and inviting. While the pool deck is strewn with lounging chairs and sun shades, a large water body nearby provides an ideal waddling pool to a dozen or so geese that go about their business unmindful of the swimmers nearby. At the break of dawn or as dusk approaches, guests looking for peace and tranquility could be seen taking up vantage points around the waterfront for meditation Outdoor activities include plantation walk, early morning nature walk, horse rides within the estate, treks and river rafting at the nearby Dubare Elephant camp, and if the guest prefer, a dinner at a traditional Coorg home for groups of 8 to 10. A trip to Madikeri town just 15 km away and called the Scotland of India offers vistas of misty hills in winter, lush forests, acres of tea and coffee plantations and orange groves. En-route, the Abbi Falls is a popular tourist attraction especially post monsoon Getting There:. By Air: Nearest airports are at Bangalore (252 km) and Mangalore (125 km) By Rail: Nearest railhead is at Mysore (120 km) By Road: A network of smooth highways connect to Mangalore, Mysore and Bangalore Best time to visit: April to November. Their tariffs include all meals and taxes.

The rooms were clean, spacious and luxurious

4/5
Posted 21 Jul, 2014

The overall appearance of the hotel is good. The rooms were clean, spacious and luxurious with all amenities like TV, fridge, coffee maker. The best part were the spacious bathrooms. They had a lass cabin for shower and a huge bathtub too, but the unique concept of open air shower was awesome. The hotel organized buffet lunch and dinner with a good spread of veg and non veg food. The hotel staff were courteous and understanding. They had activities like table tennis, billiards, cycling around the property, which we really enjoyed. They also organized adventure activities at an additional cost. We had a little mishap in the swimming pool. The tiles of the pool were broken and one of our colleague scraped his foot on it and Bled. The hotel staff were not were well quipped to handle such an emergency and it took them long time to provide first aid. On the whole it is a good hotel.

Parking facility available, spacious room

3.7/5
Posted 11 Dec, 2014

Awesome look! I traveled there by own vehicle with my relatives for relaxation in the month of April 2014. Sufficient parking facility was available there. Staff behaviour was very helpful. Inside and outside look of the hotel was awesome. Room was spacious, neat, clean and well maintained. All basic amenities were available like TV, AC, geyser, etc and they all were functioning properly. I did not face any problem in this hotel during my stay. Overall my experience in the hotel was nice. Fantastic view was visible from the room window. Location wise, the hotel was located far from the city but it was nice location. Food facility was available there with veg and non-veg. Quality wise, the food was nice. Check-in and check-out facility was not delayed. Indoor games, outdoor games, music facility and other activities were available there for more entertainment. I liked this place. Money wise, the hotel was value for money. I would like to recommend this hotel to other travellers. No suggestion for hotel improvement is required there. Overall services were up to the mark . .

Posted 28 Nov, 2014

Parking space was available there. Services were fully satisfactory and staff behaviour was co-operative. I stayed there two days. Garden view was visible from the room window. I did not face any difficulty to find this hotel. My overall experience in the hotel was very good. I traveled there by own car with my family in October month 2013. Inside and outside look of the hotel was beautiful. Food facility was available there and it was quite good. They provided the food facility according to our choice. Check-in and check-out facility was smoothly done. Swimming pool was available there but they should need to increase the more activity for children's. Sightseeing trip was arranged by our own. Money wise, the hotel was worth and I will recommend this hotel to other travellers.
