Ladakh (Leh) food, sight-seeing and shopping options
Food : Do try the local food like the Tibetan soup, Noodles, Thukpa, Momos or the Ladakhi bread. Fresh Apricots in the month of July and August are a must have. You hotel / local restaurants will serve basic Indian and Chinese stuff. Sightseeing: Local sightseeing will cover the Thiksey & Hemis monastaries, Pathar sahib, Gurudwara, Indus - Zanskar sangam, Shanti Stupa Shey Palace, Magnetic Hill (where your car goes uphill on own due to magnetic effect on the land), War memorial. Go for night stays at Nubra (tented accommodation) and Pangong Lake (one of the most beautiful part of my trip - unfortunately didn't get a chance to stay there overnight). Shopping: Market only in Leh town with nothing special except the antiques to buy which are fairly overpriced. You need to use your bargaining skills at maximum. You might buy a few locally embroidered t-shirts as souvenirs..
