Stayed there only for a night, but this is really well managed cottage completely away from noise of any sorts. In the morning you will be woken up by chirping of different birds. There are coffee plants every where in the cottage. There is a provision of bonfire and the staff was friendly enough to light a bonfire for us even though it was quite late in the night The guy who handles the cottage, Pushkar, is an amazing cook and cooked yummy home made veg and non veg food for us The rooms are decently sized, and different priced rooms get you different amenities, like our room did not have TV By the way, there is barely any network coverage here, except for BSNL and Airtel. So don't plan any internet related activities here Advice to hotel : Do give 2 towels, and keep toiletries in the bathroom.
Booked two cottages which are nestled in a thrilling environment. The food was excellent. As it is located in the wilderness one can hear the blowing winds and each and every sound of nature clearly. Only drawback are the palm sized spiders and slugs who make their appearance every now and then making you jump around and yell. The names of the cottages Aran CA and Robusta was very fascinating.
We had been there as a group of 5 friends in the last week of July just to unwind and enjoy the monsoon in Coorg. It was drizzling which added to the beauty of the place. The cottage is located about 20 KM from Virajpet and is at a remote location. Only BSNL and Airtel network are available and make sure you or someone in your group have one just in case of emergency. The road leading to this place is not so good, ridden with potholes but manageable. There are no signboards as of now on the way to the cottage but the directions mailed by Tissa is really accurate. Do follow that and you will reach your destination. We had ordered food but that time it was being sourced from a nearby caterer who prepares food at home. It was expensive, horrible and low in quantity. There was a plan of having a kitchen within the premises after complaints from other guests too on the quality of food. Make sure about this when you order food. If not, then its best to carry food from Virajpet or rely on the food provided there. The place is amongst a coffee plantation but very well lit. The rooms were clean as shown in the pics. We had issues with hot water as it wasn't available but Pushkar was quick in resolving the issue.
We were forewarned by the owners not to expect luxuries of a resort or even a homestay. Yadamakki Cottages was described as an estate stay, so we were mentally prepared. The tariff after all seemed very down-to-earth. But we didn't know we would get such a pleasurable experience staying there. We reached there by sunset. We were greeted warmly by the estate staff and shown into our cottages. We were four adults. The rooms were absolutely alright The owners should not have been apologetic at all. Each cottage has a frontage, a room and a back patio leading to a bathroom. We asked for rice, dal, salad, mutton curry and plain curd for dinner. And what they cooked and brought to the table tasted simply awesome, thanks to the Himachali cooks who doubled as our caretakers We spent a lazy morning lounging in the common area. Played some carom, walked a mile into the estate, had a good breakfast and left by noon. Make sure that you tell the caretakers about your time of arrival and meal preferences. Leave the rest to them. We wish we had at least one more day to spend there. The estate deserves a longer stay.
Overall, my experience there was good, I liked the most there was the weather and the location area. It was located in a very remote area where you have much privacy. I reached thereby own vehicle and owner had sent me a route map and also made message me and I could contact him through phone. She was able to tell me the route and everything and she gave very good service to me. There were networks, hot water, electricity, TV or everything was provided. Hotel's location was excellent and appearance wise, it was also excellent. Booking and front office people were also excellent, service was also excellent and room was excellent. Food facility was not there and activities were not there at all. Activity part was excellent, Virajpet as a tourist place was excellent. I went there in the month July 2013 with group, it was a relax kind of holiday and this trip was value for our money.
