Yelagiri Hills food, sight-seeing and shopping options
I had food in the resort I stayed and it was very homely. You have few nice options to have food. When you are out of your resort on site seeing, just explore yourself and you can find good places to have food. You have the small lake which has boating. You just have 2 options - Row boat / Pedal boat ride. So at the max you can spend 1 hour in this place. Since the area of this place is small, you can comfortably reach this lake within 10 mins from any resort. Opposite to the lake, you have the Nature park. I was stumped to see such a nice man made park at this place. The lawns, children play area, plants and trees, artificial water fountain were just too good. You can enjoy this place if you go out with your kids. There is a musical fountain in this park. They play this around 7 PM. If it rains, they don't play this. You have a nice little Murugan Temple (you can also walk from the lake to this place). It's a typical small village temple in a pretty small hill. The major activity you can have is the Treks. You can get assistance from the hotel you stay. There is also a Govt. Tourist department office, where you can get pamplets about the places to visit. You can shop pure Honey here and of course Jack fruits! If you are interested, you can buy plants in the nursery. But just check out what will happen to the pots when you wind down the hill. You don't get anything different from what you get in Chennai ECR nurseries. Just in case you want to remember Yelagiri whenever you see the little plant in your house, then buy a plant!

Hotel Review of Zeenath Taj Garden Resort
Comments: Yelagiri is an ideal place to visit on a weekend from Chennai. You have much more than your cottage to venture into the resort. Especially kids will enjoy the place as they have thoughtfully designed play area, flock of Geese, the beautiful lawns, can be assured. The resort folks have taken utmost care to be close to nature. For e.g the Signage of the resort on the main road will be difficult to watch as the entire board and letters are made of Bamboo!. I noticed the signage only on my way back from the resort! I went with modest expectations and was not disappointed. Best place to be with family. The short, sweet and safe Trek organised by the resort was amazing. It was just an hour's trek and my 6 year old daughter walked all the way back!. That will give a kind of fun and peace one can think of when you go with family. There is enough place to roam around inside the resort. In fact, myself and my wife went for a 30 mins morning walk within the resort and were fortunate to sight a rabit! I would say the satisfaction depends upon what you expect from the trip. If you want a break from your apartment life style and wanted a farm house stay over a weekend, then Zeenath Taj is the best place. I have consciously compared with a farm house, as you normally do not expect plush and comfy interiors! In the recent past, this is the only trip for us to return back with zero issues on food poisioning!
Best Experience: 1) Exteriors - Lush green trees, beautifully maintained lawns, very good play area for kids
2) Homely Yummy food!
3) Fun to run behind the flock of Geese!
4) The short, sweet and safe Trek - The Guide Mr.Kulanthai took utmost care in ensuring all of us were back safely.
5) Hospitality of the resort owner.
Worst Experience: I won't call that as worst experience. But an area for improvement would be the interiors of the room. It is not too bad to comment upon, but an improvement is desirable.

Yelagiri is a very good place to visit for a weekend break. Since it is not so commercialized like Ooty and Kodai, it has less crowd and more of nature left unexplored. Staying at Taj Gardens resort was a pleasant experience overall. I was there for two days with my wife and son and had a memorable time. We (my husband, I and 2 children) spent the last 3 days at Taj Gardens at Yelagiri Hills. Lovely place to unwind... Large open spaces... well maintained lawns and flower beds... nice view from the room. We spent a lot of time at the resort itself... just walking around... swinging on one of the many swings they have thoughtfully installed on tree branches... spot of frisbee... and the children ran around a lot. I spent one weekend there with my husband and my 3 year old. My daughter absolutely loved the open spaces at Zeenath Taj Gardens and was running up and down the whole time!
