Yercaud food, sight-seeing and shopping options
Food is average here. As we stayed in Salem, we just happened to taste the Lunch and snacks in Yercaud which was not bad! We tried the Hotel Malar, based on the feedbacks from web and didn't turn out to be a bad deal.(the fact was none of us wanted to experiment on our stomach as we had to rush to office next day!) As I mentioned earlier its not a hectic sight seeing place. perfect for a two day plan (a weekend!). We reached on a Saturday evening went to the view points (Gents seat, Ladies seat and Childrens seat) and enjoyed the panoramic view of sunset from there. Adding colour was the enchanting view of Salem city lit gloriously below.Next day we covered the Shevarayon (Servaraayan probably) temple, which houses the Kaveramma and has a cave which is believed to extend for about 480 kms till Mysore. The road that stretches to Shevroy temple is very scenic. Not to forget, this place has a lot for budding photographers. We found freshly plucked oranges on the way near rajarajeswari temple but wern't lucky enough to see the Botanical garden as its closed on Sunday. We had plans of even trekking to the kiliyur falls but dropped it as we heard there is no water, from the localites. our next destination was Mountfort School, which is a well maintained residential school which is open to visitors during weekens between 2 pm to 4 pm.(But the security here was very rude to us!)this school has a mini zoo also and a replica of Eiffel tower as well. Boating in the lake cannot be avoided at any cost. We were lucky enough for another mesmerizing sunset the next day. Notihng much to shop other than forest products, natural perfumeries and vegetables.

Hotel Review of Sterling Resorts - Yercaud
Comments: Good location close to bangalore. the drive to salem was very good, awesome roads, drive up the mountain was nice too. the hotel has a very 'shady' approach. No cell phones work in the vicinity of the place was nice to be out of coverage area. but this is where the good parts end the rooms are HORRIBLE. all bedsheets and blankets are dusty. The towels stink i wanted to check out the same day but could not because they expected to be paid in full for the whole package even if i had just checked in for two hours.
Best Experience: the drive to the yercaud was swell. i am going to stay in that sky walk place next time it looked awesome. GRT something.

this was in 2009 not 2008
Worst Experience: the hotel staff seems to have something against north indians and i felt they were rude and mean to us. penny wise and pound foolish.
they asked me check out at 10 in the morning of the third day which i thought i had paid for ...not wanting to argue with this rude bunch we had to pack and leave. in 'half an hour max' as i was told on the phone

Hotel Review of Sterling Resorts - Yercaud
After I read about some of the reviews about the resort, my husband and me were a bit skeptical about our holiday, which we had planned and booked with Sterling Resort Yercaud. We had booked a room for an entire week through RCI (actually that was the only resort available with them at that period of time). We traveled from Mumbai to Coimbatore by air and had coordinated with the resort for pick up arrangement, I must say we spent...

Hotel Review of Sterling Resorts - Yercaud
Yercaud is a small hill station and hence you cannot expect Himalayan experience. Good for a 4-5 hrs drive and staying for a night. Sterling is excellently located and has a wonderful view of the valley. That's the best part and if one goes for relaxing with a drink looking at the valley good place to go as a weekend trip. The best part of Sterling in Yercaud is its location, courteous service from the staff and some events in...

Hotel Review of Sterling Resorts - Yercaud
Yercaud as a place by itself is OK. It is cooler than Salem. From site seeing perspective, you could cover all places in a day. Sterling resorts is placed in an apt location. You could see the resorts when climbing up the Yercaud ghats. Depending on your room, the view is fantastic, especially in the evenings. Overall a pleasent experience. Good break from daily work...
