Hotel Review of Tamil Nadu, Hotel
Comments: Excellent place for a short ,cheap break from Bangalore if the same plan as done by me is followed- Go without any great expectations-Book your room from the Railway Station ( Blore City) counter of the T Nadu Tourism office in advance.Travel to Salem by the B/lore - Coimbatore intercity( 6.15 am) .After getting off the train apprx time 10.30 outside the station catch the town bus #13 frequency every 15 mts to salem bus stop.(4 kms) .From Salem bus stop there are buses to Yercaud every 20mts .The bus service is excellent please ensure you get a good seat - sit to the left of the bus on the way up and right on the way down for a good view unless you get a front seat adjacent to the driver like I had got .You will reach Yercaud in an hours time opt to have lunch in the hotel itself washup and strightaway plan your tour of the hills. You can fix up with the taxi persons Rs 350 for a trip and plan so that you end up on Pagoda point late evening for a view of Salem City Lights. Try to shortlist the places as the taxi guys have a long list - Shevaroyan Temple, Children Seat, Pagoda Point is must see.
Ensure you bend low in the Cave temple or else you will never see the actual long strectch of passage.
Evening was spend in visiting Shevaroys for early dinner as all places close by 9.30. On return time was spend watching a college group having a private party/bonfire and the hotels do arrange for this. A little' tip 'in advance to staff will help as most of the employees are just on contract basis.
As this hotel had the best view of the Lake our next day was spend in early boating round of the lake strolling around the park close by . Breakfast was in a good vegetarian restaurant - close to Shevaroys Hotel - name I 'm not sure is Mayura.... The return was the same process backwards as I had booked the Intercity 5.15 pm from Salem. I had Yercaud left early for a lunch at Salem 'Sarvanna Bhavan then lazed in the calm Salem Station.
This hill station called the poor mans Ooty is just that as it cheaper less crowded
and the locals are much more friendlier than those tongue in cheek fellows at Ooty.
Avoid Auto guys at Salem for overall happy experience at low cost. Do not go in for too high priced rooms in the Hotel Tamilnaduas I checked and found that all rooms had a similar appearance and facilities. I paid Rs300 off season even that had all facilities.Overall trip including fares,tips,taxi tours,good food for two days( one night ) was Rs1600 !!! ( Two plus one child ) A low amount to be spend to feel big for two days.
Best Experience: The drive thru the hills and the boating . Interacting with the persons there was great people are very warm.
Worst Experience: Trying to figure out which switch was the correct one for the water heater.

The resort is in a good surrounding, just near the lake. But the maintenance and services aren't very good...
