Yuksom is situated at an altitude of 1780 mt and serves as another base camp for trekking into the local mountains. The place can be reached from Pelling or Tashiding. Tourists need to be aware of the fact that the route to Yuksom from Tashiding passes through dense forests. Tourists can avail high altitude alpine treks from Yuksom to Goe Chala at about 18000 ft or Dzongri at about 12800 ft. The trekking route includes dense Rhododendron forests and offers great views of the local landscape including Mount Kanchenjunga and Mount Pandim. Tourists can also opt for a trek to the Dubdi monastery. The other place of attraction in Yuksom is the Kanchenjunga National Park, home to a variety of wild animals and birds. At a distance of about 9 km from Yuksom, lies the Phamrong Waterfall, which can be viewed from a nearby bridge.
