Evolution
HolidayIQ was launched in early 2004 under the name India Resorts Survey. India Resorts Survey was focused on creating India’s first travel community and getting the community to contribute feedback on holiday accommodation across India. The success of this effort prompted us to widen the scope of the community. Sustained feedback from members suggested the real need to have a traveller community-led holiday information site for Indian travellers. And so was born HolidayIQ.
Members
HIQ members are travellers (or people interested in travel). On filling up a registration from FREE, membership is granted. Members are eligible to contribute feedback and photos. In addition, they are also eligible to receive regular email alerts on deals & holiday options, and download India’s first series of FREE “Smart Guides” on holidays.
Company
HolidayIQ is owned & operated by Leisure & Lifestyle Information Services Private Limited, based in Bangalore, India. The company was set up in late 2003 to develop a publishing business in leisure travel and other related areas of leisure.
Founders
Hari Nair – Founder & CEO
Hari is a travel enthusiast who left his 15 year corporate career to pursue his passion for travel. Vinu Krishnan – Co-founder & COO
Vinu too left a corporate career (via BPL, KPMG & Hewitt Associates) to jump into the world of Indian entrepreneurship.
Investors
In addition to funding by the founders, LLIS was funded initially by a group of Angel investors led by Mr D S Puri (Co-founder of HCL group). Later, in its first round of institutional financing, LLIS raised equity from Erasmic Venture Fund. Recently, Bennett Coleman & Company (owners of the Times of India group) have subscribed to a substantial minority interest in the equity of the company. |
