the neat and tidy huge new bengaluru airport is a massive change from the old hal terminal in the heart of the city.notwithstanding the fact that your plane ticket may cost less than the taxi charge from city to airport a distance of 40 kms or so.architecturally pleasing with enough checkin counters and in line baggage screening make it a pleasant experience.the food choices are too few and as usual very pricey.i hear they are expanding capacity and soon the airport will be big enough for an international city in the making like bengaluru

Bangalore's BIAL airport at Devanahalli is modern enough, but not future proof. For a city where both the population and the dependence as a commercial hub is constantly increasing, the current infrastructure may not be adequate in another year or so. Connectivity is good, what with the excellent Volvo bus service...but the need for a dedicated metro line can never be over emphasised. All in all, acceptable for now - but not futuristic.

I want to congratulate BIAL on your superb efforts in provision of an excellent international airport to Bangalore. I am originally from Mumbai and this was my first visit , I always felt that we needed an efficient, clean and user-friendly airport. I am very pleased to note all your excellent achievements. I should congratulate BIA for an excellent TAXI services by Meru / Easy cabs. But there is confusion, when we arrive – some people asked us to go to Pre-Paid Taxi. This Pre-Paid taxi charges much more than the Meru Taxi & service is not as good as Meru/Easy Cabs. My only suggestion is to ensure meticulous maintenance of the premises and rigorous quality control. Good luck !!!!

The new BIAL is a big disappointment. And not just the extremely well documented accessibility (or rather the lack of it) - 2 hours plus to the heart of the city. What was worse were long waits for baggage on arrival; washrooms nowhere near the disembarkation point (and already the worse for wear). But the biggest disappointment was the departure experience - the seating post security is cramped (strange given that space should not have been a constraint); in fact almost as cramped as the old Bangalore airport. Compounded by excessively loud PA announcements made pretty much continuously. Security queues are no shorter than before - but I guess the airport is not to blame there. Nice shopping area, but overpriced. As far as new airports go, Hyderabad wins hands down over Bangalore!

This is one of the worst airport in India. The international arrival lounge appears worse than a bus terminal. There are hordes of support staff, all out to fleece women and foreigners traveling with infants or huge luggage. There is just one luggage belt and it takes nearly 2 hours for one to secure luggage. And, worse, while you wait there is no seating facility, toilets, drinking water or refreshments. It is pathetic and tragic, considering that the city is a tech hub!

The airport at Bangalore mirrors pretty much what happened to the city over the last few years. From having about 10 flights land a day in the mid-nineties Bangalore airport now handles the third largest number of aircraft movements in the country. Unfortunately, there is no room for expansion and the authorities have no clue how to utilise the space they have. On the whole the experience is miserable. There is a decent (small) Cafe Coffee Day on the ground floor and a full-fledged restaurant on the first floor of the departure terminal. There is also a small snack counter after your pass the security check. So food is not too much of an issue.
