Accessibility from town: Close to Siliguri and NJP (New Jalpaigiri). Facilities such as eateries: Not many at the airport, there is one shabby restaurant on first floor. Transport to town: You have to take the taxi from outside, I took one to Gangtok, they charged 1500+ tax for a Maruti Omni. Lounges: KF and Jet offer lounge access at the restaurant on first floor.

Since the airport was primarily used by the Air force and lately it has been opened the infrastructure is in the process of being constructed. The restarauant is excellent and serves a wide variety of meals ranging from Chinese/ North/ Bengali cuisine.. very tasty food and prices are also reasonable..

Due to sudden road blockade I along with my family missed the Jet Airways flight schedule to be deparature from Bagdogra Airport to Guwahati on 29th of December 2009. I arrived Airport by three mode of vehicle- first part by Taxi from gangtok Hotel upto the place of blocade, 2nd part with the kind gasture of Army vehicle upto Siliguri and finally by an AUTO from Siliguri to Bagdogra Airport and arrived at around 12.45PM at Airport. Although the flight was not departed, Jet Airways staff did not allow us to board the flight and finally we missed the flight. It is the very unfortunate and we were very much upset with the behaviour of jet Airways behaviour.However, they have refunded the fare with slight deduction.

A woeful experience
I had travelled to Darjeeling via Bagdogra airport and found the standard of airport to be abysmal. The ambiance of the airport is anything but desirable and not to mention the pathetic service level

I had travelled to Darjeeling via Bagdogra airport and found the standard of airport to be abysmal. The ambiance of the airport is anything but desirable and not to mention the pathetic service level standards put forth by the staff. The airport has a number of major drawbacks i. the airport is relatively small compared to the passenger traffic that it handles ii. the airport needs an immediate facelift iii. the airport is very very unclean with garbage lying around unattended iv. the security check is slow and not upto international standards due to the tremendous passenger traffic handled at the airports. the security levels are so abysmal that a catastrophe is waiting to happen. the list can go on and on...
