The shifting sand dunes of Jaisalmer are not a far cry from the dry, arid landscape of the vast desert, ‘Red Waste’, that surrounds Qarth. Like Rajasthani forts and the royal architecture, Qarth too boasts of some impressive buildings that stake its claim as ‘the greatest city that ever was or will be. Cover the breathtaking forts of Rajasthan by foot and relive Khaleesi’s journey!

HolidayIQ reviewer Dev says, “The beauty of the sand dunes in the evenings is mesmerizing. Sheer art on canvas. A place that has to be visited to be believed.”

2. The mountainous roads of Tawang- Way to the Eyrie

Do the treacherous and serpentine paths around Tawang with greenery and stupifying scenery remind you of a way to a certain castle in Game of Thrones? If you look closely, you might discover an eerie similarity between them and the path taken to the Eyrie- the castle with the moon door which was Lysa Arryn's stronghold. Like some places in Northeast, the Eyrie is difficult to access and offers absolutely breathtaking views.

HolidayiQ reviewer Subhrajit says, “From Bhalukpong, the journey to Tawang starts. The road is by the side of river Jio Bharali and is excellent. You will be frightened to cross the 26 hair pin bends spread over 26 km of journey.”

A magnificent royal city punctuated with beautiful lakes, gorgeous gardens and impressive castles- if we asked you about the presence of such a place in Game of Thrones, chances are high your answer would be Dorne. Well, the city of Udaipur in Rajasthan seems plucked straight out of Game of Thrones. The similarities don’t end here- both are arid regions known for having strong armies!

HolidayIQ reviewer Saiyam says, “This was one of my best trips ever. You should definitely look forward to a trip to Udaipur. The lakes, the forts, everything is beautiful.”

The view from both forts is absolutely stunning and Murud Janjira even has the ocean view for those who are sticklers for details!

HolidayIQ reviewer Soumo says, “The experience in the sailboat to the Janjira Fort is worth experiencing- words can't describe the serenity and beauty of the short trip. The fort itself is historic, the cannon fearsome and the sweet water lake inside wonderful.”

In winters, the Key gompa is inconspicuously present and distinctly visible in contrast to the snow surrounding it. With its castle like structure and placement in the cold region of Ladakh, it shares many similarities with Moat Cailin and Winterfell, which was the seat of the King in the north. Now that winter has come in Game of Thrones, it’s high time you clear your schedule in real winter and take a trip to Spiti valley to know what we’re talking about.

HolidayIQ reviewer Upamanyu says, “Spiti valleys is the land of high Himalayas, cold deserts, mighty high altitude passes, it is the land where dusty bumpy off roads meets cold streams.”
