5. Know the story behind Villoondi Theertham!

Located about 7 km from Ramanathaswamy Temple, Villoondi theertham has a very special story behind its name. Villoondi literally translates to ‘buried low’ and it’s said that it was here where Lord Rama hit an arrow in the sea to quench his wife Sita’s thirst. It is also a pace where one could find pure drinking water amidst the sea.

6. The mysterious ruins of Dhanushkodi!

Situated at the south-eastern tip of Pamban Island, Dhanushkodi was once a famous town, that is, until a cyclone in 1964 decimated most of it. Now it’s a place where people come to explore the ruins of a time gone by. Talk to the local fishermen to know more about the history of this place or just take a long walk exploring the ruins, the choice is yours.
