Away from city hustle with greenery scenic view Mahabaleshwar has its own charm. We started our journey from Pune on a bike. The roads were as beautiful as the destination itself. The places to visit in Mahabaleshwar are Pratapgarh fort, Veena Lake, 5000 years old Lord Shiva Temple which has amazing divine beauty. The Tiger's point, Lodwick point. Food- A must try in Akbar Darbar especially Chicken barra and chicken fry in dahi style. Do try the games during the evening near Veena lake that will help in stress buster.”

The hill station doesn’t allow automobiles which has helped preserve this place till date. There are numerous cottages you can rent and have a blast with no one to complain.

HolidayIQ Traveller Santhosh Gidh from Mumbai shares, “Well this was indeed a brilliant trip to Matheran, we have been many times before here, since its close to Mumbai and a perfect weekend getaway kind of place. Beauty of this place is you will never feel home away, yes such a nice hospitality, for hotels, they have options available for everyone, from luxury to a budget one. Food is nice here, and those mountains and pollution free climate since no vehicle is allowed inside city. Overall I would like to suggest this place for a weekend holiday place.”

Best thing is it is near to Mumbai and can be accessed through ferry boats and by road. We visited nagaon beach, akshi beach and kashid beach which are lined up on murud road. Enjoyed lot there. Try fish dishes which is available in local hotels and also by locals there. On beaches enjoyed banana and jet ski ride and few more rides. The food joints here do not have much variety and are bit expensive but good. There are 2 options to stay but need to be booked well in advance as most of the times they are full. Lavasa is a 2 hours drive from Pune. Ensure you have the fog lights for your car especially during monsoon.”

Malshej Ghat is surrounded by covers of dense green forests and the Western Ghats. The ghats take on a new life around monsoon and continue till winter. The green landscapes coupled with the cool atmosphere gives the place a whole hill station feel. Whether you like a quiet get together or a loud drunken party, Malshej won’t disappoint.

HolidayIQ Traveller Aneri Shah from Ahmedabad shares, “Malshej Ghat was in one of mine to go lists which got fulfilled in July first week. We had hired a car to reach Malshej Ghat. We started at 7 and it got almost 11 to reach there. The roads are very good and the view is fantastic. We got misled by the pictures of Google which tells about the waterfalls on the road. We did not notice any in the month of July. The best thing which we could find is the dam which is set up just ahead of the MTDC resort. The dam has a beautiful view of mountains on the other side and water in the front. Be aware of the windy atmosphere. You cannot stand steadily in these winds. The water in the lake had a great reflection of the mountains and due to high winds the flow was awesome. We almost spent 2-3 hours there. Then we went to Shivneri Fort. It has a nice view if you can climb 1 hour. There's nothing in the fort except for the long steps. I personally feel if and only if you have plenty time you should visit the fort.”
