The best mode of journey from Bangalore to Mangalore is by Car. Since we did not prefer the same, the next available option was the train where we found no reservations.

Since, the road to Mangalore is a Ghat section, kindly opt for a Seater bus and not a sleeper one since the twists and turns along the way are hard to bear. The stop midway are okay for a late night dinner.

Be careful to take a Avomine tablet before you board the bus since the ghats are narrow.

I personally felt the sleeper of ksrtc was comfortable however given a chance I would have chosen a private operator for their punctuality aspect. However that being said I would certainly suggest everyone to take this journey as the route is of utmost scenic beauty.

The bus was on time at the boarding point and reached Mangalore on time. As it was night travel, the blanket provided but was very thin and was of no use. The pillow was not good as it was made of some hard martial not sure of what. Overall, my bus experience was not good.

Nice journey, very comfortable though we were sitting on back. Water and blankets are provided on the course of journey and reached on time.

Only thing that is confusing is the boarding point at Kempe Gowda Bus Stop in Majestic. Overall, had a good journey one way.

While returning boarded a VOLVO - Airavatha from Mangalore (Coimbatore bus) to Mysore, which was worse than a shuttle bus, the staff kept varying the A/c temperature quiet often. Could not sleep.

I had been to Mangalore on a winter morning. I took the KSRTC Bus from the main Bus Stop in Majestic in Bangalore city. I left Bangalore City at around 10 Am and reached Mangalore by around 7 Pm. The day journey will be advised to only those people who enjoy breath-taking sightseeing through the hilly terrain. The bus took the route via Kunigal, Channarayapatna, Hassan, Sakleshpur and Belthangady. The Majestic Shiradi Ghat is worth a visit in the day bus as one can see flora and fauna that too after Sakleshpur through the Majestic Shiradi Ghat. The best season to visit Mangalore is between September and February.
