If you are in Pondicherry then the best way to travel is by bus as they are punctual. Itís a nice travel experience in Pondicherry Road Transport Corporation (PRTC). Even if you are travelling in a non AC PRTC bus also itís absolutely fine. AC bus takes half an hour less to reach Pondicherry as compared to non-AC bus. Among the AC bus kindly select push pack buses for your comfortable journey and its worth it.
I boarded the bus from ISBT, Delhi and it costs Rs 520 to Mohali for AC bus. Journey was comfortable, as I travelled during night and was tired, slept sound and woke up at Chandigarh Sec -17, ISBT. Total journey took around 5 hours.
First suggestion is never go by train from Chennai to Pondicherry. Always go by bus and ask the bus conductor if it goes by bypass then donít board in those buses. Board only on ECR buses else you will miss the ECR scenic beauty.
While passing through ECR it was like heaven. Road along the sea beaches. Carry you eatables. Itís just 3 and half hour journey so no problem at all but carry your drinking water itís advisable.
Lots of bus options are there but SETC is the best in both non AC as well as AC category. So if you get SETC bus luxury one go for it. Fare is mere 20 rupees more than the simple buses.
We all take the bus from Inter State Bus Terminals (ISBT) Delhi and after entering in the bus we were so happy because inside the bus we felt as if we are in a plane. The bus had a TV and seats were very comfortable and the staff were also good. While travelling they served us food and also some drinks.
This is a nice premium bus service of Puducherry Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) and it has nice facilities. The bus is great and comfortable and has all the multi axle facilities too. The bus is fully air conditioned and it was a joy ride from Chennai to Pondicherry. I got down at the bus stand and hire an auto which charged 50 Rs to the beach which is a normal rate over there.
It was a nice experience to travel along the East Coast Road (ECR). The bus took proper halts in between the journey but the price was too high in the restaurants, it was double than the original market price.
The bus service was on time. There were no other positive things about it. Try to take the window seat for more comfortability. I had travelled through non-AC bus. Travellers should carry water along with themselves. Staff were not so co-operative and they are not loyal to the job.
Dont travel in non AC buses. You will get tired as you can travel in AC coaches or train. Especially in summer it will be disastrous travelling in non ac buses in Punjab and one more thing you have to wait for buses for long time because only few buses go direct to Amritsar.
Never had so much fun on bus but what really a matter is with whom we are travelling. Enjoyed a lot with friends. The circle road and the failing on friends and the singing of songs on the way were just nice. Played many games and shared a lot.
I picked the Punjab Road Transport Corporation Bus. The bus was quick and you should carry your water bottle with you. The journey was hectic and for a comfortable journey you should travel in an AC bus. Preferably pick up a window seat to add to your comfort and sightseeing while travelling.
